Sura #90 | Makkah

	1	Ik zweer bij dit grondgebied,

	2	En gij, o profeet! houd verblijf in dit grondgebied;

	3	En bij den vader, en bij het kind;

	4	Waarlijk, wij hebben den mensch in ellende geschapen.

	5	Denkt hij, dat niemand sterker is dan hij.

	6	Hij zegt: ik heb groote rijkdommen verteerd!

	7	Denkt hij, dat hem niemand ziet.

	8	Hebben wij hem niet twee oogen gegeven.

	9	En eene tong en twee lippen.

	10	En hebben wij hem niet de twee groote wegen, des goeds en des kwaads vertoond?

	11	En nog is hij de helling niet afgedaald.

	12	Wat zal u doen begrijpen wat de helling is?

	13	Het is: den balling te bevrijden.

	14	Of te voeden in de dagen van hongersnood.

	15	Den wees, die ons verwant is.

	16	Of den armen man, die op den grond ligt.

	17	Wie dit doet en tot hen behoort die gelooven, en ieder ander volharding en mededoogen aanbevelen,

	18	Dezen zullen de makkers der rechterhand wezen.

	19	Maar zij, die omtrent onze teekenen ongeloovig zullen zijn, dezen zullen de makkers der linkerhand wezen.

	20	Boven hen zal zich het vuur uitstrekken.
