الر ۚ تِلْكَ آيَاتُ الْكِتَابِ وَقُرْآنٍ مُّبِينٍ
Transliteration 1: Aliflamra tilka ayatu alkitabi waquranin mubeenin
Yusuf Ali 1: A. L. R. These are the Ayats of Revelation,- of a Qur'an that makes things clear.
Mohsin Khan: 1: Alif-Lam-Ra. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'an, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings].These are Verses of the Book and a plain Qur'an.
Saheeh: 1: Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Qur'an.
Urdu 1: یہ آیتیں کتاب کی ہیں اور قرآن واضح کی

رُّبَمَا يَوَدُّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَوْ كَانُوا مُسْلِمِينَ
Transliteration 2: Rubama yawaddu allatheena kafaroo law kanoo muslimeena
Yusuf Ali 2: Again and again will those who disbelieve, wish that they had bowed (to Allah's will) in Islam.
Mohsin Khan: 2: How much would those who disbelieved wish that they had been Muslims [those who have submitted themselves to Allah's Will in Islam i.e. Islamic Monotheism - this will be on the Day of Resurrection when they will see the disbelievers going to Hell and the Muslims going to Paradise].
Saheeh: 2: Perhaps those who disbelieve will wish that they had been Muslims.
Urdu 2: کافر بڑی حسرت کریں گے کہ کاش وہ مسلمان ہو جاتے


3  
ذَرْهُمْ يَأْكُلُوا وَيَتَمَتَّعُوا وَيُلْهِهِمُ الْأَمَلُ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ
Transliteration 3: Tharhum yakuloo wayatamattaAAoo wayulhihimu alamalu fasawfa yaAAlamoona
Yusuf Ali 3: Leave them alone, to enjoy (the good things of this life) and to please themselves: let (false) hope amuse them: soon will knowledge (undeceive them).
Mohsin Khan: 3: Leave them to eat and enjoy, and let them be preoccupied with (false) hope. They will come to know!
Saheeh: 3: Let them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted by [false] hope, for they are going to know.
Urdu 3: انہیں چھوڑ دو کھا لیں اور فائدہ اٹھا لیں اور انہیں آرزو بھلائے رکھے سو آئندہ معلوم کر لیں گے


4  
وَمَا أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا وَلَهَا كِتَابٌ مَّعْلُومٌ
Transliteration 4: Wama ahlakna min qaryatin illa walaha kitabun maAAloomun
Yusuf Ali 4: Never did We destroy a population that had not a term decreed and assigned beforehand.
Mohsin Khan: 4: And never did We destroy a township but there was a known decree for it.
Saheeh: 4: And We did not destroy any city but that for it was a known decree.
Urdu 4: اور ہم نے جتنی بستیاں ہلاک کی ہیں ان سب کے لیے ایک مقرر وقت لکھا ہوا تھا


5  
مَّا تَسْبِقُ مِنْ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسْتَأْخِرُونَ
Transliteration 5: Ma tasbiqu min ommatin ajalaha wama yastakhiroona
Yusuf Ali 5: Neither can a people anticipate its term, nor delay it.
Mohsin Khan: 5: No nation can advance its term, nor delay it.
Saheeh: 5: No nation will precede its term, nor will they remain thereafter.
Urdu 5: کوئی قوم اپنے وقت مقرر سے نہ پہلے ہلاک ہوئی ہے نہ پیچھے رہی ہے


6  
وَقَالُوا يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِي نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ الذِّكْرُ إِنَّكَ لَمَجْنُونٌ
Transliteration 6: Waqaloo ya ayyuha allathee nuzzila AAalayhi alththikru innaka lamajnoonun
Yusuf Ali 6: They say: "O thou to whom the Message is being revealed! truly thou art mad (or possessed)!
Mohsin Khan: 6: And they say: "O you (Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) to whom the Dhikr (the Qur'an) has been sent down! Verily, you are a mad man!
Saheeh: 6: And they say, "O you upon whom the message has been sent down, indeed you are mad.
Urdu 6: اور انہوں نے کہا اے وہ شخص جس پر قرآن نازل کیا گیا ہے بے شک تو مجنون ہے


7  
لَّوْ مَا تَأْتِينَا بِالْمَلَائِكَةِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ
Transliteration 7: Law ma tateena bialmalaikati in kunta mina alssadiqeena
Yusuf Ali 7: "Why bringest thou not angels to us if it be that thou hast the Truth?"
Mohsin Khan: 7: "Why do you not bring angels to us if you are of the truthful?"
Saheeh: 7: Why do you not bring us the angels, if you should be among the truthful?"
Urdu 7: اگر تم سچے ہو تو ہمارے پاس فرشتوں کو کیوں نہیں لاتے


8  
مَا نُنَزِّلُ الْمَلَائِكَةَ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَمَا كَانُوا إِذًا مُّنظَرِينَ
Transliteration 8: Ma nunazzilu almalaikata illa bialhaqqi wama kanoo ithan munthareena
Yusuf Ali 8: We send not the angels down except for just cause: if they came (to the ungodly), behold! no respite would they have!
Mohsin Khan: 8: We send not the angels down except with the truth (i.e. for torment), and in that case, they (the disbelievers) would have no respite!
Saheeh: 8: We do not send down the angels except with truth; and the disbelievers would not then be reprieved.
Urdu 8: ہم فرشتہ تو فیصلہ ہی کے لیے بھیجا کرتے ہیں اور اس وقت انہیں مہلت نہیں ملے گی


9  
إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ
Transliteration 9: Inna nahnu nazzalna alththikra wainna lahu lahafithoona
Yusuf Ali 9: We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption).
Mohsin Khan: 9: Verily, We, it is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Qur'an) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption) .
Saheeh: 9: Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian.
Urdu 9: ہم نے یہ نصیحت اتار دی ہے اور بے شک ہم اس کے نگہبان ہیں


10  
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ فِي شِيَعِ الْأَوَّلِينَ
Transliteration 10: Walaqad arsalna min qablika fee shiyaAAi alawwaleena
Yusuf Ali 10: We did send messengers before thee amongst the religious sects of old:
Mohsin Khan: 10: Indeed, We sent (Messengers) before you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) amongst the sects (communities) of old.
Saheeh: 10: And We had certainly sent [messengers] before you, [O Muhammad], among the sects of the former peoples.
Urdu 10: اور تجھ سے پہلے ہم پہلی قوموں میں بھی رسول بھیج چکے ہیں


11  
وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ
Transliteration 11: Wama yateehim min rasoolin illa kanoo bihi yastahzioona
Yusuf Ali 11: But never came a messenger to them but they mocked him.
Mohsin Khan: 11: And never came a Messenger to them but they did mock at him.
Saheeh: 11: And no messenger would come to them except that they ridiculed him.
Urdu 11: اور وہ بھی جب کوئی رسول ان کے پاس آتا ہے تو اس سے ٹھٹھا ہی کرتے


12  
كَذَ‌ٰلِكَ نَسْلُكُهُ فِي قُلُوبِ الْمُجْرِمِينَ
Transliteration 12: Kathalika naslukuhu fee quloobi almujrimeena
Yusuf Ali 12: Even so do we let it creep into the hearts of the sinners -
Mohsin Khan: 12: Thus do We let it (polytheism and disbelief) enter the hearts of the Mujrimun [criminals, polytheists and pagans (because of their mocking at the Messengers)].
Saheeh: 12: Thus do We insert denial into the hearts of the criminals.
Urdu 12: اسی طرح ہم یہ ٹھٹھا ان مجرمو ں کے دلوں میں ڈال دیتے ہیں


13  
لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ ۖ وَقَدْ خَلَتْ سُنَّةُ الْأَوَّلِينَ
Transliteration 13: La yuminoona bihi waqad khalat sunnatu alawwaleena
Yusuf Ali 13: That they should not believe in the (Message); but the ways of the ancients have passed away.
Mohsin Khan: 13: They would not believe in it (the Qur'an); and already the example of (Allah's punishment of) the ancients (who disbelieved) has gone forth.
Saheeh: 13: They will not believe in it, while there has already occurred the precedent of the former peoples.
Urdu 13: یہ لوگ قرآن پر ایمان نہیں لاتے اور یہ پہلوں کا دستور چلا آیا ہے


14  
وَلَوْ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِم بَابًا مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ فَظَلُّوا فِيهِ يَعْرُجُونَ
Transliteration 14: Walaw fatahna AAalayhim baban mina alssamai fathalloo feehi yaAArujoona
Yusuf Ali 14: Even if We opened out to them a gate from heaven, and they were to continue (all day) ascending therein,
Mohsin Khan: 14: And even if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they were to keep on ascending thereto (all the day long)
Saheeh: 14: And [even] if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they continued therein to ascend,
Urdu 14: اور اگر ہم ان پر آسمان سے دروازہ کھول دیں پھراس میں سے چڑھ جائیں


15  
لَقَالُوا إِنَّمَا سُكِّرَتْ أَبْصَارُنَا بَلْ نَحْنُ قَوْمٌ مَّسْحُورُونَ
Transliteration 15: Laqaloo innama sukkirat absaruna bal nahnu qawmun mashooroona
Yusuf Ali 15: They would only say: "Our eyes have been intoxicated: Nay, we have been bewitched by sorcery."
Mohsin Khan: 15: They would surely say (in the evening): "Our eyes have been (as if) dazzled (we have not seen any angel or heaven). Nay, we are a people bewitched."
Saheeh: 15: They would say, "Our eyes have only been dazzled. Rather, we are a people affected by magic."
Urdu 15: البتہ کہیں گے کہ ہماری نظر بندی کر دی گئی تھی بلکہ ہم پر جادو کیا گیا ہے


16  
وَلَقَدْ جَعَلْنَا فِي السَّمَاءِ بُرُوجًا وَزَيَّنَّاهَا لِلنَّاظِرِينَ
Transliteration 16: Walaqad jaAAalna fee alssamai buroojan wazayyannaha lilnnathireena
Yusuf Ali 16: It is We Who have set out the zodiacal signs in the heavens, and made them fair-seeming to (all) beholders;
Mohsin Khan: 16: And indeed, We have put the big stars in the heaven and We beautified it for the beholders.
Saheeh: 16: And We have placed within the heaven great stars and have beautified it for the observers.
Urdu 16: او رالبتہ تحقیق ہم نے آسمان پر برج بنائے ہیں اور دیکھنے والو ں کی نطر میں اسے رونق دی ہے


17  
وَحَفِظْنَاهَا مِن كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ رَّجِيمٍ
Transliteration 17: Wahafithnaha min kulli shaytanin rajeemin
Yusuf Ali 17: And (moreover) We have guarded them from every cursed devil:
Mohsin Khan: 17: And We have guarded it (near heaven) from every outcast Shaitan (devil).
Saheeh: 17: And We have protected it from every devil expelled [from the mercy of Allah]
Urdu 17: اور ہم نے اسے ہرشیطان مردود سے محفوظ رکھا


18  
إِلَّا مَنِ اسْتَرَقَ السَّمْعَ فَأَتْبَعَهُ شِهَابٌ مُّبِينٌ
Transliteration 18: Illa mani istaraqa alssamAAa faatbaAAahu shihabun mubeenun
Yusuf Ali 18: But any that gains a hearing by stealth, is pursued by a flaming fire, bright (to see).
Mohsin Khan: 18: Except him (devil) who steals the hearing then he is pursued by a clear flaming fire.
Saheeh: 18: Except one who steals a hearing and is pursued by a clear burning flame.
Urdu 18: مگر جس نے چوری سے سن لیا تو اس کے پیچھے چمکتا ہوا انگارہ پڑا


19  
وَالْأَرْضَ مَدَدْنَاهَا وَأَلْقَيْنَا فِيهَا رَوَاسِيَ وَأَنبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ شَيْءٍ مَّوْزُونٍ
Transliteration 19: Waalarda madadnaha waalqayna feeha rawasiya waanbatna feeha min kulli shayin mawzoonin
Yusuf Ali 19: And the earth We have spread out (like a carpet); set thereon mountains firm and immovable; and produced therein all kinds of things in due balance.
Mohsin Khan: 19: And the earth We have spread out, and have placed therein firm mountains, and caused to grow therein all kinds of things in due proportion.
Saheeh: 19: And the earth - We have spread it and cast therein firmly set mountains and caused to grow therein [something] of every well-balanced thing.
Urdu 19: اور ہم نے زمین کو پھیلایا اور اس پر پہاڑ رکھ دیے اوراس میں ہر چیز اندازے سے اگائی


20  
وَجَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ فِيهَا مَعَايِشَ وَمَن لَّسْتُمْ لَهُ بِرَازِقِينَ
Transliteration 20: WajaAAalna lakum feeha maAAayisha waman lastum lahu biraziqeena
Yusuf Ali 20: And We have provided therein means of subsistence,- for you and for those for whose sustenance ye are not responsible.
Mohsin Khan: 20: And We have provided therein means of living, for you and for those whom you provide not [moving (living) creatures, cattle, beasts, and other animals].
Saheeh: 20: And We have made for you therein means of living and [for] those for whom you are not providers.
Urdu 20: اوراس میں تمہارے لیے روزی کے اسباب بنا دیئے اوران کے لیے بھی جنہیں تم روزی دینے والے نہیں ہو


21  
وَإِن مِّن شَيْءٍ إِلَّا عِندَنَا خَزَائِنُهُ وَمَا نُنَزِّلُهُ إِلَّا بِقَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ
Transliteration 21: Wain min shayin illa AAindana khazainuhu wama nunazziluhu illa biqadarin maAAloomin
Yusuf Ali 21: And there is not a thing but its (sources and) treasures (inexhaustible) are with Us; but We only send down thereof in due and ascertainable measures.
Mohsin Khan: 21: And there is not a thing, but with Us are the stores thereof. And We send it not down except in a known measure.
Saheeh: 21: And there is not a thing but that with Us are its depositories, and We do not send it down except according to a known measure.
Urdu 21: او رہر چیز کے ہمارے پاس خزانے ہیں اورہم صرف اسے اندازہ معین پر نازل کرتے ہیں


22  
وَأَرْسَلْنَا الرِّيَاحَ لَوَاقِحَ فَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً فَأَسْقَيْنَاكُمُوهُ وَمَا أَنتُمْ لَهُ بِخَازِنِينَ
Transliteration 22: Waarsalna alrriyaha lawaqiha faanzalna mina alssamai maan faasqaynakumoohu wama antum lahu bikhazineena
Yusuf Ali 22: And We send the fecundating winds, then cause the rain to descend from the sky, therewith providing you with water (in abundance), though ye are not the guardians of its stores.
Mohsin Khan: 22: And We send the winds fertilizing (to fill heavily the clouds with water), then cause the water (rain) to descend from the sky, and We give it to you to drink, and it is not you who are the owners of its stores [i.e. to give water to whom you like or to withhold it from whom you like].
Saheeh: 22: And We have sent the fertilizing winds and sent down water from the sky and given you drink from it. And you are not its retainers.
Urdu 22: اور ہم نے بادل اٹھانے والی ہوائیں بھیجیں پھر ہم نے آسمان سے پانی نازل کیا پھر وہ تمہیں پلایا اور تمہارے پاس اس کا خزانہ نہیں ہے


23  
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ نُحْيِي وَنُمِيتُ وَنَحْنُ الْوَارِثُونَ
Transliteration 23: Wainna lanahnu nuhyee wanumeetu wanahnu alwarithoona
Yusuf Ali 23: And verily, it is We Who give life, and Who give death: it is We Who remain inheritors (after all else passes away).
Mohsin Khan: 23: And certainly We! We it is Who give life, and cause death, and We are the Inheritors.
Saheeh: 23: And indeed, it is We who give life and cause death, and We are the Inheritor.
Urdu 23: اور بے شک ہم ہی زندہ کرتے اور مارتے ہیں اورا خیر مالک بھی ہم ہی ہیں


24  
وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا الْمُسْتَقْدِمِينَ مِنكُمْ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا الْمُسْتَأْخِرِينَ
Transliteration 24: Walaqad AAalimna almustaqdimeena minkum walaqad AAalimna almustakhireena
Yusuf Ali 24: To Us are known those of you who hasten forward, and those who lag behind.
Mohsin Khan: 24: And indeed, We know the first generations of you who had passed away, and indeed, We know the present generations of you (mankind), and also those who will come afterwards.
Saheeh: 24: And We have already known the preceding [generations] among you, and We have already known the later [ones to come].
Urdu 24: اور ہمیں تم میں سے اگلے او رپچھلے سب معلوم کر لیں


25  
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٌ
Transliteration 25: Wainna rabbaka huwa yahshuruhum innahu hakeemun AAaleemun
Yusuf Ali 25: Assuredly it is thy Lord Who will gather them together: for He is perfect in Wisdom and Knowledge.
Mohsin Khan: 25: And verily, your Lord will gather them together. Truly, He is All-Wise, All-Knowing.
Saheeh: 25: And indeed, your Lord will gather them; indeed, He is Wise and Knowing.
Urdu 25: اور بے شک تیرا رب ہی انہیں جمع کرے گا بے شک وہ حکمت والا خبردار ہے


26  
وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ مِن صَلْصَالٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ
Transliteration 26: Walaqad khalaqna alinsana min salsalin min hamain masnoonin
Yusuf Ali 26: We created man from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape;
Mohsin Khan: 26: And indeed, We created man from dried (sounding) clay of altered mud.
Saheeh: 26: And We did certainly create man out of clay from an altered black mud.
Urdu 26: اور البتہ تحقیق ہم نے انسان کو بجتی ہوئی مٹی سے جو سڑے ہوئے گارے سے تھی پیدا کیا


27  
وَالْجَانَّ خَلَقْنَاهُ مِن قَبْلُ مِن نَّارِ السَّمُومِ
Transliteration 27: Waaljanna khalaqnahu min qablu min nari alssamoomi
Yusuf Ali 27: And the Jinn race, We had created before, from the fire of a scorching wind.
Mohsin Khan: 27: And the jinn, We created aforetime from the smokeless flame of fire.
Saheeh: 27: And the jinn We created before from scorching fire.
Urdu 27: اور ہم نے اس سے پہلے جنوں کو آگ کے شعلے سے بنایا تھا


28  
وَإِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ إِنِّي خَالِقٌ بَشَرًا مِّن صَلْصَالٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ
Transliteration 28: Waith qala rabbuka lilmalaikati innee khaliqun basharan min salsalin min hamain masnoonin
Yusuf Ali 28: Behold! thy Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man, from sounding clay from mud moulded into shape;
Mohsin Khan: 28: And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man (Adam) from dried (sounding) clay of altered mud.
Saheeh: 28: And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud.
Urdu 28: اور جب تیرے رب نے فرشتوں سے کہا کہ میں ایک بشر کو بجتی ہوئی مٹی سے جو کےسڑے ہوئے گارے کی ہو گی پیدا کرنے والا ہوں


29  
فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِي فَقَعُوا لَهُ سَاجِدِينَ
Transliteration 29: Faitha sawwaytuhu wanafakhtu feehi min roohee faqaAAoo lahu sajideena
Yusuf Ali 29: "When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him."
Mohsin Khan: 29: "So, when I have fashioned him completely and breathed into him (Adam) the soul which I created for him, then fall (you) down prostrating yourselves unto him."
Saheeh: 29: And when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration."
Urdu 29: پھر جب میں اسے ٹھیک بنالوں اور اس میں اپنی روح پھونک دوں تو تم اس کے آگے سجدہ میں گر پڑنا


30  
فَسَجَدَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ
Transliteration 30: Fasajada almalaikatu kulluhum ajmaAAoona
Yusuf Ali 30: So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together:
Mohsin Khan: 30: So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together.
Saheeh: 30: So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely,
Urdu 30: پھر سب کے سب فرشتوں نے سجدہ کیا


31  
إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ أَبَىٰ أَن يَكُونَ مَعَ السَّاجِدِينَ
Transliteration 31: Illa ibleesa aba an yakoona maAAa alssajideena
Yusuf Ali 31: Not so Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves.
Mohsin Khan: 31: Except Iblis (Satan) - he refused to be among the prostrators.
Saheeh: 31: Except Iblees, he refused to be with those who prostrated.
Urdu 31: مگر ابلیس نے انکار کیا کہ سجدہ کرنے والوں کے ساتھ ہو


32  
قَالَ يَا إِبْلِيسُ مَا لَكَ أَلَّا تَكُونَ مَعَ السَّاجِدِينَ
Transliteration 32: Qala ya ibleesu ma laka alla takoona maAAa alssajideena
Yusuf Ali 32: (Allah) said: "O Iblis! what is your reason for not being among those who prostrated themselves?"
Mohsin Khan: 32: (Allah) said: "O Iblis (Satan)! What is your reason for not being among the prostrators?"
Saheeh: 32: [Allah] said, O Iblees, what is [the matter] with you that you are not with those who prostrate?"
Urdu 32: فرمایا اے ابلیس! تجھے کیا ہوا کہ سجدہ کرنے والوں کے ساتھ نہ ہوا


33  
قَالَ لَمْ أَكُن لِّأَسْجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقْتَهُ مِن صَلْصَالٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ
Transliteration 33: Qala lam akun liasjuda libasharin khalaqtahu min salsalin min hamain masnoonin
Yusuf Ali 33: (Iblis) said: "I am not one to prostrate myself to man, whom Thou didst create from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape."
Mohsin Khan: 33: [Iblis (Satan)] said: "I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from dried (sounding) clay of altered mud."
Saheeh: 33: He said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud."
Urdu 33: کہا میں ایسا نہ تھا کہ ایک ایسے بشر کو سجدہ کروں جسے تو نے بجتی ہوئی مٹی سے جو سڑے ہوئے گارے کی تھی پیدا کیا ہے


34  
قَالَ فَاخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌ
Transliteration 34: Qala faokhruj minha fainnaka rajeemun
Yusuf Ali 34: (Allah) said: "Then get thee out from here; for thou art rejected, accursed.
Mohsin Khan: 34: (Allah) said: "Then, get out from here, for verily, you are Rajim (an outcast or a cursed one)." [Tafsir At-Tabari]
Saheeh: 34: [Allah] said, "Then get out of it, for indeed, you are expelled.
Urdu 34: کہا تو آسمان سے نکل جا بے شک تو مردود ہو گیا


35  
وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ اللَّعْنَةَ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ
Transliteration 35: Wainna AAalayka allaAAnata ila yawmi alddeeni
Yusuf Ali 35: "And the curse shall be on thee till the day of Judgment."
Mohsin Khan: 35: "And verily, the curse shall be upon you till the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)."
Saheeh: 35: And indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense."
Urdu 35: اور بے شک تجھ پر قیامت کے دن تک لعنت رہے گی


36  
قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرْنِي إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
Transliteration 36: Qala rabbi faanthirnee ila yawmi yubAAathoona
Yusuf Ali 36: (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised."
Mohsin Khan: 36: [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day they (the dead) will be resurrected."
Saheeh: 36: He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected."
Urdu 36: کہا اے میرے رب! تو پھر مجھے قیامت کے دن تک مہلت دے


37  
قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ الْمُنظَرِينَ
Transliteration 37: Qala fainnaka mina almunthareena
Yusuf Ali 37: (Allah) said: "Respite is granted thee
Mohsin Khan: 37: Allah said: "Then, verily, you are of those reprieved,
Saheeh: 37: [Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved
Urdu 37: فرمایا بےشک تجھے مہلت ہے


38  
إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْوَقْتِ الْمَعْلُومِ
Transliteration 38: Ila yawmi alwaqti almaAAloomi
Yusuf Ali 38: "Till the Day of the Time appointed."
Mohsin Khan: 38: "Till the Day of the time appointed."
Saheeh: 38: Until the Day of the time well-known."
Urdu 38: وقت معلوم کے دن تک


39  
قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَا أَغْوَيْتَنِي لَأُزَيِّنَنَّ لَهُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
Transliteration 39: Qala rabbi bima aghwaytanee laozayyinanna lahum fee alardi walaoghwiyannahum ajmaAAeena
Yusuf Ali 39: (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! because Thou hast put me in the wrong, I will make (wrong) fair-seeming to them on the earth, and I will put them all in the wrong,-
Mohsin Khan: 39: [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all.
Saheeh: 39: [Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all
Urdu 39: کہا اے میرے رب! جیسا تو نے مجھے گمراہ لیا ہے البتہ ضرور ضرور میں زمین میں انہیں ان کے گناہوں کو مرغوب کر کے دکھاؤں گا اور ان سب کو گمراہ کروں گا


40  
إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ الْمُخْلَصِينَ
Transliteration 40: Illa AAibadaka minhumu almukhlaseena
Yusuf Ali 40: "Except Thy servants among them, sincere and purified (by Thy Grace)."
Mohsin Khan: 40: "Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them."
Saheeh: 40: Except, among them, Your chosen servants."
Urdu 40: سوائے تیرے ان بندوں کے جو ان میں مخلص ہو ں گے


41  
قَالَ هَـٰذَا صِرَاطٌ عَلَيَّ مُسْتَقِيمٌ
Transliteration 41: Qala hatha siratun AAalayya mustaqeemun
Yusuf Ali 41: (Allah) said: "This (way of My sincere servants) is indeed a way that leads straight to Me.
Mohsin Khan: 41: (Allah) said: "This is the Way which will lead straight to Me."
Saheeh: 41: [Allah] said, "This is a path [of return] to Me [that is] straight.
Urdu 41: فرمایا یہ راستہ مجھ پر سیدھا ہے


42  
إِنَّ عِبَادِي لَيْسَ لَكَ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَانٌ إِلَّا مَنِ اتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ الْغَاوِينَ
Transliteration 42: Inna AAibadee laysa laka AAalayhim sultanun illa mani ittabaAAaka mina alghaweena
Yusuf Ali 42: "For over My servants no authority shalt thou have, except such as put themselves in the wrong and follow thee."
Mohsin Khan: 42: "Certainly, you shall have no authority over My slaves, except those who follow you of the Ghawun (Mushrikun and those who go astray, criminals, polytheists, and evil-doers).
Saheeh: 42: Indeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators.
Urdu 42: بے شک میرے بندوں پر تیرا کچھ بھی بس نہیں چلے گا مگر جو گمراہوں میں سے تیرا تابعدار ہوا


43  
وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمَوْعِدُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
Transliteration 43: Wainna jahannama lamawAAiduhum ajmaAAeena
Yusuf Ali 43: And verily, Hell is the promised abode for them all!
Mohsin Khan: 43: "And surely, Hell is the promised place for them all.
Saheeh: 43: And indeed, Hell is the promised place for them all.
Urdu 43: اور بے شک ان سب کا وعدہ دوزخ پر ہے


44  
لَهَا سَبْعَةُ أَبْوَابٍ لِّكُلِّ بَابٍ مِّنْهُمْ جُزْءٌ مَّقْسُومٌ
Transliteration 44: Laha sabAAatu abwabin likulli babin minhum juzon maqsoomun
Yusuf Ali 44: To it are seven gates: for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned.
Mohsin Khan: 44: "It (Hell) has seven gates, for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned.
Saheeh: 44: It has seven gates; for every gate is of them a portion designated."
Urdu 44: اس کے سات دروازے ہیں ہر دروازے کے لیے ان کے الگ الگ حصے ہیں


45  
إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
Transliteration 45: Inna almuttaqeena fee jannatin waAAuyoonin
Yusuf Ali 45: The righteous (will be) amid gardens and fountains (of clear-flowing water).
Mohsin Khan: 45: "Truly! The Muttaqun (the pious - See V.2:2) will be amidst Gardens and water-springs (Paradise).
Saheeh: 45: Indeed, the righteous will be within gardens and springs.
Urdu 45: بے شک پرہیزگار باغوں اور چشموں میں رہیں گے


46  
ادْخُلُوهَا بِسَلَامٍ آمِنِينَ
Transliteration 46: Odkhulooha bisalamin amineena
Yusuf Ali 46: (Their greeting will be): "Enter ye here in peace and security."
Mohsin Khan: 46: "(It will be said to them): 'Enter therein (Paradise), in peace and security.'
Saheeh: 46: [Having been told], "Enter it in peace, safe [and secure]."
Urdu 46: ان باغوں میں سلامتی اور امن سے جا کر رہو


47  
وَنَزَعْنَا مَا فِي صُدُورِهِم مِّنْ غِلٍّ إِخْوَانًا عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مُّتَقَابِلِينَ
Transliteration 47: WanazaAAna ma fee sudoorihim min ghillin ikhwanan AAala sururin mutaqabileena
Yusuf Ali 47: And We shall remove from their hearts any lurking sense of injury: (they will be) brothers (joyfully) facing each other on thrones (of dignity).
Mohsin Khan: 47: "And We shall remove from their breasts any deep feeling of bitterness (that they may have). (So they will be like) brothers facing each other on thrones.
Saheeh: 47: And We will remove whatever is in their breasts of resentment, [so they will be] brothers, on thrones facing each other.
Urdu 47: اور ان کے دلوں میں جو کینہ تھا ہم وہ سب دور کر دیں گے سب بھائی بھائی ہوں گے تختوں پر آمنے سامنے بیٹھنے والے ہوں گے


48  
لَا يَمَسُّهُمْ فِيهَا نَصَبٌ وَمَا هُم مِّنْهَا بِمُخْرَجِينَ
Transliteration 48: La yamassuhum feeha nasabun wama hum minha bimukhrajeena
Yusuf Ali 48: There no sense of fatigue shall touch them, nor shall they (ever) be asked to leave.
Mohsin Khan: 48: "No sense of fatigue shall touch them, nor shall they (ever) be asked to leave it."
Saheeh: 48: No fatigue will touch them therein, nor from it will they [ever] be removed.
Urdu 48: انہیں وہاں کوئی تکلیف نہیں پہنچے گی اور نہ وہ وہاں سے نکالے جائیں گے


49  
 ۞ نَبِّئْ عِبَادِي أَنِّي أَنَا الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ
Transliteration 49: Nabbi AAibadee annee ana alghafooru alrraheemu
Yusuf Ali 49: Tell My servants that I am indeed the Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful;
Mohsin Khan: 49: Declare (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) unto My slaves, that truly, I am the Oft-Forgiving, the Most-Merciful.
Saheeh: 49: [O Muhammad], inform My servants that it is I who am the Forgiving, the Merciful.
Urdu 49: میرے بندوں کو اطلاع دے کہ بےشک میں بحشنے والا مہربان ہوں


50  
وَأَنَّ عَذَابِي هُوَ الْعَذَابُ الْأَلِيمُ
Transliteration 50: Wa anna AAathabee huwa alAAathabu alaleemu
Yusuf Ali 50: And that My Penalty will be indeed the most grievous Penalty.
Mohsin Khan: 50: And that My Torment is indeed the most painful torment.
Saheeh: 50: And that it is My punishment which is the painful punishment.
Urdu 50: اور بے شک میرا عذاب وہی دردناک عذاب ہے


51  
وَنَبِّئْهُمْ عَن ضَيْفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ
Transliteration 51: Wanabbihum AAan dayfi ibraheema
Yusuf Ali 51: Tell them about the guests of Abraham.
Mohsin Khan: 51: And tell them about the guests (the angels) of Ibrahim (Abraham).
Saheeh: 51: And inform them about the guests of Abraham,
Urdu 51: اور انہیں ابراھیم کے مہمانوں کا حال سنا دو


52  
إِذْ دَخَلُوا عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا سَلَامًا قَالَ إِنَّا مِنكُمْ وَجِلُونَ
Transliteration 52: Ith dakhaloo AAalayhi faqaloo salaman qala inna minkum wajiloona
Yusuf Ali 52: When they entered his presence and said, "Peace!" He said, "We feel afraid of you!"
Mohsin Khan: 52: When they entered unto him, and said: Salam (peace)! [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Indeed! We are afraid of you."
Saheeh: 52: When they entered upon him and said, "Peace." [Abraham] said, "Indeed, we are fearful of you."
Urdu 52: جب اس کے گھر میں داخل ہوئے اور کہا سلام اس نے کہا بے شک ہمیں تم سے ڈر معلوم ہوتا ہے


53  
قَالُوا لَا تَوْجَلْ إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَامٍ عَلِيمٍ
Transliteration 53: Qaloo la tawjal inna nubashshiruka bighulamin AAaleemin
Yusuf Ali 53: They said: "Fear not! We give thee glad tidings of a son endowed with wisdom."
Mohsin Khan: 53: They (the angels) said: "Do not be afraid! We give you glad tidings of a boy (son) possessing much knowledge and wisdom."
Saheeh: 53: [The angels] said, "Fear not. Indeed, we give you good tidings of a learned boy."
Urdu 53: کہا ڈرو مت بے شک ہم تمہیں ایک دن لڑکے کی خوشخبری سناتے ہیں


54  
قَالَ أَبَشَّرْتُمُونِي عَلَىٰ أَن مَّسَّنِيَ الْكِبَرُ فَبِمَ تُبَشِّرُونَ
Transliteration 54: Qala abashshartumoonee AAala an massaniya alkibaru fabima tubashshirooni
Yusuf Ali 54: He said: "Do ye give me glad tidings that old age has seized me? Of what, then, is your good news?"
Mohsin Khan: 54: [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Do you give me glad tidings (of a son) when old age has overtaken me? Of what then is your news?"
Saheeh: 54: He said, "Have you given me good tidings although old age has come upon me? Then of what [wonder] do you inform?"
Urdu 54: کہا مجھے اب بڑھاپے میں خوشخبری سناتے ہو سو کس چیز کی خوشخبری سناتے ہو


55  
قَالُوا بَشَّرْنَاكَ بِالْحَقِّ فَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ الْقَانِطِينَ
Transliteration 55: Qaloo bashsharnaka bialhaqqi fala takun mina alqaniteena
Yusuf Ali 55: They said: "We give thee glad tidings in truth: be not then in despair!"
Mohsin Khan: 55: They (the angels) said: "We give you glad tidings in truth. So be not of the despairing."
Saheeh: 55: They said, "We have given you good tidings in truth, so do not be of the despairing."
Urdu 55: انہوں نے کہا ہم نے تمہیں بھی سچی خوشخبری سنائی ہے سو تو نا امید نہ ہو


56  
قَالَ وَمَن يَقْنَطُ مِن رَّحْمَةِ رَبِّهِ إِلَّا الضَّالُّونَ
Transliteration 56: Qala waman yaqnatu min rahmati rabbihi illa alddalloona
Yusuf Ali 56: He said: "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord, but such as go astray?"
Mohsin Khan: 56: [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "And who despairs of the Mercy of his Lord except those who are astray?"
Saheeh: 56: He said, "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord except for those astray?"
Urdu 56: کہا اپنے رب کی رحمت سے نا امید تو گمراہ لوگ ہی ہوا کرتے ہیں


57  
قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ أَيُّهَا الْمُرْسَلُونَ
Transliteration 57: Qala fama khatbukum ayyuha almursaloona
Yusuf Ali 57: Abraham said: "What then is the business on which ye (have come), O ye messengers (of Allah)?"
Mohsin Khan: 57: [Ibrahim (Abraham) again] said: "What then is the business on which you have come, O Messengers?"
Saheeh: 57: [Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?"
Urdu 57: کہا اے فرشتو! پھر تمہارا کیا مقصد ہے


58  
قَالُوا إِنَّا أُرْسِلْنَا إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍ مُّجْرِمِينَ
Transliteration 58: Qaloo inna orsilna ila qawmin mujrimeena
Yusuf Ali 58: They said: "We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin,
Mohsin Khan: 58: They (the angels) said: "We have been sent to a people who are Mujrimun (criminals, disbelievers, polytheists, sinners).
Saheeh: 58: They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals,
Urdu 58: انہوں نے کہا ہم ایک نافرمان قوم کی طرف بھیجے گئے ہیں


59  
إِلَّا آلَ لُوطٍ إِنَّا لَمُنَجُّوهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
Transliteration 59: Illa ala lootin inna lamunajjoohum ajmaAAeena
Yusuf Ali 59: "Excepting the adherents of Lut: them we are certainly (charged) to save (from harm),- All -
Mohsin Khan: 59: "(All) except the family of Lut (Lot). Them all we are surely going to save (from destruction).
Saheeh: 59: Except the family of Lot; indeed, we will save them all
Urdu 59: مگر لوط کے گھر والے کہ ہم ان سب کو بچا لیں گے


60  
إِلَّا امْرَأَتَهُ قَدَّرْنَا ۙ إِنَّهَا لَمِنَ الْغَابِرِينَ
Transliteration 60: Illa imraatahu qaddarna innaha lamina alghabireena
Yusuf Ali 60: "Except his wife, who, We have ascertained, will be among those who will lag behind."
Mohsin Khan: 60: "Except his wife, of whom We have decreed that she shall be of those who remain behind (i.e. she will be destroyed)."
Saheeh: 60: Except his wife." Allah decreed that she is of those who remain behind.
Urdu 60: مگر اس کی بیوی ہم نے فیصلہ کیا ہے کہ وہ پیچھے رہنے والو ں میں سے ہے


61  
فَلَمَّا جَاءَ آلَ لُوطٍ الْمُرْسَلُونَ
Transliteration 61: Falamma jaa ala lootin almursaloona
Yusuf Ali 61: At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut,
Mohsin Khan: 61: Then, when the Messengers (the angels) came unto the family of Lut (Lot).
Saheeh: 61: And when the messengers came to the family of Lot,
Urdu 61: پھر جب لوط کے گھر فرشتے پہنچے


62  
قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌ مُّنكَرُونَ
Transliteration 62: Qala innakum qawmun munkaroona
Yusuf Ali 62: He said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk."
Mohsin Khan: 62: He said: "Verily! You are people unknown to me."
Saheeh: 62: He said, "Indeed, you are people unknown."
Urdu 62: کہا بے شک تم اجنبی لوگ ہو


63  
قَالُوا بَلْ جِئْنَاكَ بِمَا كَانُوا فِيهِ يَمْتَرُونَ
Transliteration 63: Qaloo bal jinaka bima kanoo feehi yamtaroona
Yusuf Ali 63: They said: "Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt.
Mohsin Khan: 63: They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting.
Saheeh: 63: They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing,
Urdu 63: انہوں نے کہا بلکہ ہم تیرے پاس وہ چیز لے کر آئے ہیں جس میں وہ جھگڑتے تھے


64  
وَأَتَيْنَاكَ بِالْحَقِّ وَإِنَّا لَصَادِقُونَ
Transliteration 64: Waataynaka bialhaqqi wainna lasadiqoona
Yusuf Ali 64: "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth.
Mohsin Khan: 64: "And we have brought you the truth (the news of the destruction of your nation) and certainly, we tell the truth.
Saheeh: 64: And we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful.
Urdu 64: او رہم تیرے پاس پکی بات لائے ہیں اوربے شک ہم سچ کہتے ہیں


65  
فَأَسْرِ بِأَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٍ مِّنَ اللَّيْلِ وَاتَّبِعْ أَدْبَارَهُمْ وَلَا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنكُمْ أَحَدٌ وَامْضُوا حَيْثُ تُؤْمَرُونَ
Transliteration 65: Faasri biahlika biqitAAin mina allayli waittabiAA adbarahum wala yaltafit minkum ahadun waimdoo haythu tumaroona
Yusuf Ali 65: "Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered."
Mohsin Khan: 65: "Then travel in a part of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered."
Saheeh: 65: So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded."
Urdu 65: پس تم اپنے گھر والوں کو کچھ رات رہے لے نکلو اور تو ان کے پیچھے چل اور تم میں سے کوئی مڑ کر نہ دیکھے اور چلے جاؤ جہاں تمہیں حکم ہے


66  
وَقَضَيْنَا إِلَيْهِ ذَ‌ٰلِكَ الْأَمْرَ أَنَّ دَابِرَ هَـٰؤُلَاءِ مَقْطُوعٌ مُّصْبِحِينَ
Transliteration 66: Waqadayna ilayhi thalika alamra anna dabira haolai maqtooAAun musbiheena
Yusuf Ali 66: And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning.
Mohsin Khan: 66: And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning.
Saheeh: 66: And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning.
Urdu 66: اور ہم نے لوط کو قطعی طور پر یہ بات واضح کر دی تھی کہ صبح ہوتے ہی ان کی جڑ کاٹ دی جائے گی


67  
وَجَاءَ أَهْلُ الْمَدِينَةِ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ
Transliteration 67: Wajaa ahlu almadeenati yastabshiroona
Yusuf Ali 67: The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men).
Mohsin Khan: 67: And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival).
Saheeh: 67: And the people of the city came rejoicing.
Urdu 67: اور شہر والے خوشیاں کرتے ہوئے آئے


68  
قَالَ إِنَّ هَـٰؤُلَاءِ ضَيْفِي فَلَا تَفْضَحُونِ
Transliteration 68: Qala inna haolai dayfee fala tafdahooni
Yusuf Ali 68: Lut said: "These are my guests: disgrace me not:
Mohsin Khan: 68: [Lut (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not.
Saheeh: 68: [Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me.
Urdu 68: لوط نے کہا یہ لوگ میرے مہمان ہیں سو مجھے ذلیل نہ کرو


69  
وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَلَا تُخْزُونِ
Transliteration 69: Waittaqoo Allaha wala tukhzooni
Yusuf Ali 69: "But fear Allah, and shame me not."
Mohsin Khan: 69: "And fear Allah and disgrace me not."
Saheeh: 69: And fear Allah and do not disgrace me."
Urdu 69: اور الله سے ڈرو اور مجھے بے آبرو نہ کرو


70  
قَالُوا أَوَلَمْ نَنْهَكَ عَنِ الْعَالَمِينَ
Transliteration 70: Qaloo awalam nanhaka AAani alAAalameena
Yusuf Ali 70: They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?"
Mohsin Khan: 70: They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you from entertaining (or protecting) any of the 'Alamin (people, foreigners and strangers from us)?"
Saheeh: 70: They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people?"
Urdu 70: انہوں نے کہا کیاہم نے تمہیں دنیا بھر کی حمایت سے منع نہیں کیا ہے


71  
قَالَ هَـٰؤُلَاءِ بَنَاتِي إِن كُنتُمْ فَاعِلِينَ
Transliteration 71: Qala haolai banatee in kuntum faAAileena
Yusuf Ali 71: He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)."
Mohsin Khan: 71: [Lut (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)."
Saheeh: 71: [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]."
Urdu 71: کہا یہ میری بیٹیاں حاضر ہیں اگر تم کرنے والے ہو


72  
لَعَمْرُكَ إِنَّهُمْ لَفِي سَكْرَتِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ
Transliteration 72: LaAAamruka innahum lafee sakratihim yaAAmahoona
Yusuf Ali 72: Verily, by thy life (O Prophet), in their wild intoxication, they wander in distraction, to and fro.
Mohsin Khan: 72: Verily, by your life (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم), in their wild intoxication, they were wandering blindly.
Saheeh: 72: By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly.
Urdu 72: تیری جان کی قسم ہے وہ اپنی مستی میں اندھے ہو رہے تھے


73  
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّيْحَةُ مُشْرِقِينَ
Transliteration 73: Faakhathathumu alssayhatu mushriqeena
Yusuf Ali 73: But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning,
Mohsin Khan: 73: So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry) overtook them at the time of sunrise.
Saheeh: 73: So the shriek seized them at sunrise.
Urdu 73: پھر دن نکلتے ہی انہیں ہولناک آواز نے آ لیا


74  
فَجَعَلْنَا عَالِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِّن سِجِّيلٍ
Transliteration 74: FajaAAalna AAaliyaha safilaha waamtarna AAalayhim hijaratan min sijjeelin
Yusuf Ali 74: And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay.
Mohsin Khan: 74: And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay.
Saheeh: 74: And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay.
Urdu 74: پھر ہم نے ان بستیوں کو زیرو زبر کر دیا اور ان پر کنکر کے پتھر برسائے


75  
إِنَّ فِي ذَ‌ٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِّلْمُتَوَسِّمِينَ
Transliteration 75: Inna fee thalika laayatin lilmutawassimeena
Yusuf Ali 75: Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand.
Mohsin Khan: 75: Surely! In this are signs for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allah).
Saheeh: 75: Indeed in that are signs for those who discern.
Urdu 75: بے شک اس واقعہ میں اہلِ بصیرت کے لیے نشانیاں ہیں


76  
وَإِنَّهَا لَبِسَبِيلٍ مُّقِيمٍ
Transliteration 76: Wainnaha labisabeelin muqeemin
Yusuf Ali 76: And the (cities were) right on the high-road.
Mohsin Khan: 76: And verily! They (the cities) were right on the highroad (from Makkah to Syria i.e. the place where the Dead Sea is now) .
Saheeh: 76: And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road.
Urdu 76: اور بے شک یہ بستیاں سیدھے راستے پر واقع ہیں


77  
إِنَّ فِي ذَ‌ٰلِكَ لَآيَةً لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Transliteration 77: Inna fee thalika laayatan lilmumineena
Yusuf Ali 77: Behold! in this is a sign for those who believed.
Mohsin Khan: 77: Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers.
Saheeh: 77: Indeed in that is a sign for the believers.
Urdu 77: بے شک اس میں ایمانداروں کے لیے نشانیاں ہیں


78  
وَإِن كَانَ أَصْحَابُ الْأَيْكَةِ لَظَالِمِينَ
Transliteration 78: Wain kana ashabu alaykati lathalimeena
Yusuf Ali 78: And the Companions of the Wood were also wrong-doers;
Mohsin Khan: 78: And the Dwellers in the Wood [i.e. the people of Madyan (Midian) to whom Prophet Shu'aib (عليه السلام) was sent by Allah), were also Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers).
Saheeh: 78: And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers.
Urdu 78: اوربن کے لوگ بھی بدکار تھے


79  
فَانتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ وَإِنَّهُمَا لَبِإِمَامٍ مُّبِينٍ
Transliteration 79: Faintaqamna minhum wainnahuma labiimamin mubeenin
Yusuf Ali 79: So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see.
Mohsin Khan: 79: So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see.
Saheeh: 79: So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway.
Urdu 79: پھر ہم نےان سےبھی بدلہ لیا اور یہ دونوں بستیاں کھلے راستہ پر واقع ہیں


80  
وَلَقَدْ كَذَّبَ أَصْحَابُ الْحِجْرِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
Transliteration 80: Walaqad kaththaba ashabu alhijri almursaleena
Yusuf Ali 80: The Companions of the Rocky Tract also rejected the messengers:
Mohsin Khan: 80: And verily, the dwellers of Al-Hijr (the rocky tract) denied the Messengers.
Saheeh: 80: And certainly did the companions of Thamud deny the messengers.
Urdu 80: او ربے شک حجر والوں نے رسولوں کو جھٹلایا تھا


81  
وَآتَيْنَاهُمْ آيَاتِنَا فَكَانُوا عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ
Transliteration 81: Waataynahum ayatina fakanoo AAanha muAArideena
Yusuf Ali 81: We sent them Our Signs, but they persisted in turning away from them.
Mohsin Khan: 81: And We gave them Our Signs, but they were averse to them.
Saheeh: 81: And We gave them Our signs, but from them they were turning away.
Urdu 81: اور ہم نے انہیں اپنی نشانیاں بھی دی تھیں پر وہ ان سے روگردانی کرتے تھے


82  
وَكَانُوا يَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ الْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا آمِنِينَ
Transliteration 82: Wakanoo yanhitoona mina aljibali buyootan amineena
Yusuf Ali 82: Out of the mountains did they hew (their) edifices, (feeling themselves) secure.
Mohsin Khan: 82: And they used to hew out dwellings from the mountains (feeling themselves) secure.
Saheeh: 82: And they used to carve from the mountains, houses, feeling secure.
Urdu 82: او وہ لوگ پہاڑوں کو تراش کر گھر بناتے تھے کہ امن میں رہیں


83  
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّيْحَةُ مُصْبِحِينَ
Transliteration 83: Faakhathathumu alssayhatu musbiheena
Yusuf Ali 83: But the (mighty) Blast seized them of a morning,
Mohsin Khan: 83: But As-Saihah (torment - awful cry) overtook them in the early morning (of the fourth day of their promised punishment days).
Saheeh: 83: But the shriek seized them at early morning.
Urdu 83: پھر انہیں صبح کے وقت سخت آواز نے آ پکڑا


84  
فَمَا أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ
Transliteration 84: Fama aghna AAanhum ma kanoo yaksiboona
Yusuf Ali 84: And of no avail to them was all that they did (with such art and care)!
Mohsin Khan: 84: And all that they used to earn availed them not.
Saheeh: 84: So nothing availed them [from] what they used to earn.
Urdu 84: پھر ان کے دنیاوی ہنر ان کے کچھ بھی کام نہ آئے


85  
وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ ۗ وَإِنَّ السَّاعَةَ لَآتِيَةٌ ۖ فَاصْفَحِ الصَّفْحَ الْجَمِيلَ
Transliteration 85: Wama khalaqna alssamawati waalarda wama baynahuma illa bialhaqqi wainna alssaAAata laatiyatun faisfahi alssafha aljameela
Yusuf Ali 85: We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, but for just ends. And the Hour is surely coming (when this will be manifest). So overlook (any human faults) with gracious forgiveness.
Mohsin Khan: 85: And We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them except with truth, and the Hour is surely coming, so overlook (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) their faults with gracious forgiveness. [This was before the ordainment of Jihad - holy fighting in Allah's cause].
Saheeh: 85: And We have not created the heavens and earth and that between them except in truth. And indeed, the Hour is coming; so forgive with gracious forgiveness.
Urdu 85: اور ہم نے آسمانوں اور زمین اور ان کی درمیانی چیزوں کو بغیر حکمت کے پیدا نہیں کیا اور قیامت ضرور آنے والی ہے پر تو ان سے خوش خلقی کے ساتھ کنارہ کر


86  
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ الْخَلَّاقُ الْعَلِيمُ
Transliteration 86: Inna rabbaka huwa alkhallaqu alAAaleemu
Yusuf Ali 86: For verily it is thy Lord who is the Master-Creator, knowing all things.
Mohsin Khan: 86: Verily, your Lord is the All-Knowing Creator.
Saheeh: 86: Indeed, your Lord - He is the Knowing Creator.
Urdu 86: بے شک تیار رب وہی پیدا کرنے والا جاننے والا ہے


87  
وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَاكَ سَبْعًا مِّنَ الْمَثَانِي وَالْقُرْآنَ الْعَظِيمَ
Transliteration 87: Walaqad ataynaka sabAAan mina almathanee waalqurana alAAatheema
Yusuf Ali 87: And We have bestowed upon thee the Seven Oft-repeated (verses) and the Grand Qur'an.
Mohsin Khan: 87: And indeed, We have bestowed upon you seven of Al-Mathani (seven repeatedly recited Verses), (i.e. Surat Al-Fatihah) and the Grand Qur'an.
Saheeh: 87: And We have certainly given you, [O Muhammad], seven of the often repeated [verses] and the great Qur'an.
Urdu 87: اور ہم نے تمہیں سات آیتیں دیں جو (نماز میں) دہرائی جاتی ہیں اور قرآن عظمت والا دیا


88  
لَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيْنَيْكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِهِ أَزْوَاجًا مِّنْهُمْ وَلَا تَحْزَنْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَاخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Transliteration 88: La tamuddanna AAaynayka ila ma mattaAAna bihi azwajan minhum wala tahzan AAalayhim waikhfid janahaka lilmumineena
Yusuf Ali 88: Strain not thine eyes. (Wistfully) at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them, nor grieve over them: but lower thy wing (in gentleness) to the believers.
Mohsin Khan: 88: Look not with your eyes ambitiously at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them (the disbelievers), nor grieve over them. And lower your wings for the believers (be courteous to the fellow-believers).
Saheeh: 88: Do not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to [certain] categories of the disbelievers, and do not grieve over them. And lower your wing to the believers
Urdu 88: اور تو اپنی آنکھ اٹھا کر بھی ان چیزوں کو نہ دیکھ جو ہم نے مختلف قسم کے کافروں کو استعمال کے لیے دے رکھی ہیں اور ان پر غم نہ کر اور اپنے بازو ایمان والوں کے لیے جھکا دے


89  
وَقُلْ إِنِّي أَنَا النَّذِيرُ الْمُبِينُ
Transliteration 89: Waqul innee ana alnnatheeru almubeenu
Yusuf Ali 89: And say: "I am indeed he that warneth openly and without ambiguity,"-
Mohsin Khan: 89: And say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم): "I am indeed a plain warner."
Saheeh: 89: And say, "Indeed, I am the clear warner" -
Urdu 89: اور کہہ دو بے شک میں کھلم کھلا ڈرانے والا ہوں


90  
كَمَا أَنزَلْنَا عَلَى الْمُقْتَسِمِينَ
Transliteration 90: Kama anzalna AAala almuqtasimeena
Yusuf Ali 90: (Of just such wrath) as We sent down on those who divided (Scripture into arbitrary parts),-
Mohsin Khan: 90: As We have sent down on the dividers, (Quraish pagans or Jews and Christians).
Saheeh: 90: Just as We had revealed [scriptures] to the separators
Urdu 90: جیسا ہم نے (عذاب) ان بانٹنے والو ں پر بھیجا ہے


91  
الَّذِينَ جَعَلُوا الْقُرْآنَ عِضِينَ
Transliteration 91: Allatheena jaAAaloo alqurana AAideena
Yusuf Ali 91: (So also on such) as have made Qur'an into shreds (as they please).
Mohsin Khan: 91: Who have made the Qur'an into parts. (i.e. believed in one part and disbelieved in the other). [Tafsir At-Tabari]
Saheeh: 91: Who have made the Qur'an into portions.
Urdu 91: جنہوں نے قرآن کو ٹکڑے ٹکڑے کیا ہے


92  
فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسْأَلَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
Transliteration 92: Fawarabbika lanasalannahum ajmaAAeena
Yusuf Ali 92: Therefore, by the Lord, We will, of a surety, call them to account,
Mohsin Khan: 92: So, by your Lord (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم), We shall certainly call all of them to account.
Saheeh: 92: So by your Lord, We will surely question them all
Urdu 92: پھر تیرے رب کی قسم ہے البتہ ہم ان سب سے سوال کریں گے


93  
عَمَّا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ
Transliteration 93: AAamma kanoo yaAAmaloona
Yusuf Ali 93: For all their deeds.
Mohsin Khan: 93: For all that they used to do.
Saheeh: 93: About what they used to do.
Urdu 93: اس چیز سے کہ وہ کرتے تھے


94  
فَاصْدَعْ بِمَا تُؤْمَرُ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ
Transliteration 94: FaisdaAA bima tumaru waaAArid AAani almushrikeena
Yusuf Ali 94: Therefore expound openly what thou art commanded, and turn away from those who join false gods with Allah.
Mohsin Khan: 94: Therefore proclaim openly (Allah's Message - Islamic Monotheism) that which you are commanded, and turn away from Al-Mushrikun (polytheists, idolaters, and disbelievers - See V.2:105).
Saheeh: 94: Then declare what you are commanded and turn away from the polytheists.
Urdu 94: سو تو کھول کر سنا دے جو تجھے حکم دیا گیا ہے اور مشرکوں کی پروا نہ کر


95  
إِنَّا كَفَيْنَاكَ الْمُسْتَهْزِئِينَ
Transliteration 95: Inna kafaynaka almustahzieena
Yusuf Ali 95: For sufficient are We unto thee against those who scoff,-
Mohsin Khan: 95: Truly! We will suffice you against the scoffers,
Saheeh: 95: Indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers
Urdu 95: بے شک ہم تیری طرف سے ٹھٹھا کرنے والوں کے لیے کافی ہیں


96  
الَّذِينَ يَجْعَلُونَ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا آخَرَ ۚ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ
Transliteration 96: Allatheena yajAAaloona maAAa Allahi ilahan akhara fasawfa yaAAlamoona
Yusuf Ali 96: Those who adopt, with Allah, another god: but soon will they come to know.
Mohsin Khan: 96: Who set up along with Allah another ilah (god); but they will come to know.
Saheeh: 96: Who make [equal] with Allah another deity. But they are going to know.
Urdu 96: اور جو الله کے ساتھ دوسرا خدا مقرر کرتے ہیں سو عنقریب معلوم کر لیں گے


97  
وَلَقَدْ نَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ يَضِيقُ صَدْرُكَ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ
Transliteration 97: Walaqad naAAlamu annaka yadeequ sadruka bima yaqooloona
Yusuf Ali 97: We do indeed know how thy heart is distressed at what they say.
Mohsin Khan: 97: Indeed, We know that your breast is straitened at what they say.
Saheeh: 97: And We already know that your breast is constrained by what they say.
Urdu 97: اور ہم جانتے ہیں کہ تیرا دل ان باتوں سے تنگ ہوتا ہے جو وہ کہتے ہیں


98  
فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُن مِّنَ السَّاجِدِينَ
Transliteration 98: Fasabbih bihamdi rabbika wakun mina alssajideena
Yusuf Ali 98: But celebrate the praises of thy Lord, and be of those who prostrate themselves in adoration.
Mohsin Khan: 98: So glorify the praises of your Lord and be of those who prostrate themselves (to Him).
Saheeh: 98: So exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord and be of those who prostrate [to Him].
Urdu 98: سو تو اپنے رب کی تسبیح حمد کے ساتھ کیے جا اور سجدہ کرنے والوں میں سے ہو


99  
وَاعْبُدْ رَبَّكَ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِيَكَ الْيَقِينُ
Transliteration 99: WaoAAbud rabbaka hatta yatiyaka alyaqeenu
Yusuf Ali 99: And serve thy Lord until there come unto thee the Hour that is Certain.
Mohsin Khan: 99: And worship your Lord until there comes unto you the certainty (i.e. death).
Saheeh: 99: And worship your Lord until there comes to you the certainty (death).
Urdu 99: اور اپنے رب کی عبادت کرتے رہو یہاں تک کہ تمہیں موت آجائے
