1  
ن ۚ وَالْقَلَمِ وَمَا يَسْطُرُونَ
Transliteration 1: Noon waalqalami wama yasturoona
Yusuf Ali 1: Nun. By the Pen and the (Record) which (men) write,-
Mohsin Khan: 1: Nun. [These letters (Nun, etc.) are one of the miracles of the Qur'an, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. By the pen and by what they (the angels) write (in the Records of men).
Urdu 1: نۤ قلم کی قسم ہے اور اس کی جو اس سے لکھتے ہیں


2  
مَا أَنتَ بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ بِمَجْنُونٍ
Transliteration 2: Ma anta biniAAmati rabbika bimajnoonin
Yusuf Ali 2: Thou art not, by the Grace of thy Lord, mad or possessed.
Mohsin Khan: 2: You (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), by the Grace of your Lord, are not mad.
Urdu 2: آپ الله کے فضل سے دیوانہ نہیں ہیں


3  
وَإِنَّ لَكَ لَأَجْرًا غَيْرَ مَمْنُونٍ
Transliteration 3: Wainna laka laajran ghayra mamnoonin
Yusuf Ali 3: Nay, verily for thee is a Reward unfailing:
Mohsin Khan: 3: And Verily, for you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) will be an endless reward.
Urdu 3: اور آپ کے لیے تو بے شمار اجر ہے


4  
وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ
Transliteration 4: Wainnaka laAAala khuluqin AAatheemin
Yusuf Ali 4: And thou (standest) on an exalted standard of character.
Mohsin Khan: 4: And Verily, you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) are on an exalted (standard of) character.
Urdu 4: اور بے شک آپ تو بڑے ہی خوش خلق ہیں


5  
فَسَتُبْصِرُ وَيُبْصِرُونَ
Transliteration 5: Fasatubsiru wayubsiroona
Yusuf Ali 5: Soon wilt thou see, and they will see,
Mohsin Khan: 5: You will see, and they will see,
Urdu 5: پس عنقریب آپ بھی دیکھ لیں گے اور وہ بھی دیکھ لیں گے


6  
بِأَييِّكُمُ الْمَفْتُونُ
Transliteration 6: Biayyikumu almaftoonu
Yusuf Ali 6: Which of you is afflicted with madness.
Mohsin Khan: 6: Which of you is afflicted with madness.
Urdu 6: کہ تم میں سے کون دیوانہ ہے


7  
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِالْمُهْتَدِينَ
Transliteration 7: Inna rabbaka huwa aAAlamu biman dalla AAan sabeelihi wahuwa aAAlamu bialmuhtadeena
Yusuf Ali 7: Verily it is thy Lord that knoweth best, which (among men) hath strayed from His Path: and He knoweth best those who receive (true) Guidance.
Mohsin Khan: 7: Verily, your Lord is the Best Knower of him who has gone astray from His Path, and He is the Best Knower of those who are guided.
Urdu 7: بے شک آپ کا رب ہی خوب جانتا ہے کہ کون اس کی راہ سے بہکا ہے اور وہ ہدایت پانے والوں کو بھی خوب جانتا ہے


8  
فَلَا تُطِعِ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Transliteration 8: Fala tutiAAi almukaththibeena
Yusuf Ali 8: So hearken not to those who deny (the Truth).
Mohsin Khan: 8: So (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) obey you not the deniers [(of Islamic Monotheism - those who belie the Verses of Allah), the Oneness of Allah, and the Messengership of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم]
Urdu 8: پس آپ جھٹلانےوالوں کا کہا نہ مانیں


9  
وَدُّوا لَوْ تُدْهِنُ فَيُدْهِنُونَ
Transliteration 9: Waddoo law tudhinu fayudhinoona
Yusuf Ali 9: Their desire is that thou shouldst be pliant: so would they be pliant.
Mohsin Khan: 9: They wish that you should compromise (in religion out of courtesy) with them: so they (too) would compromise with you.
Urdu 9: وہ تو چاہتے ہیں کہ کہیں آپ نرمی کریں تو وہ بھی نرمی کریں


10  
وَلَا تُطِعْ كُلَّ حَلَّافٍ مَّهِينٍ
Transliteration 10: Wala tutiAA kulla hallafin maheenin
Yusuf Ali 10: Heed not the type of despicable men,- ready with oaths,
Mohsin Khan: 10: And (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) obey you not everyone Hallaf Mahin (the one who swears much and is a liar or is worthless). [Tafsir At-Tabari]
Urdu 10: اور ہر قسمیں کھانے والے ذلیل کا کہا نہ مان


11  
هَمَّازٍ مَّشَّاءٍ بِنَمِيمٍ
Transliteration 11: Hammazin mashshain binameemin
Yusuf Ali 11: A slanderer, going about with calumnies,
Mohsin Khan: 11: A slanderer, going about with calumnies,
Urdu 11: جو طعنے دینے والا چغلی کھانے والا ہے


12  
مَّنَّاعٍ لِّلْخَيْرِ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ
Transliteration 12: MannaAAin lilkhayri muAAtadin atheemin
Yusuf Ali 12: (Habitually) hindering (all) good, transgressing beyond bounds, deep in sin,
Mohsin Khan: 12: Hinderer of the good, transgressor, sinful,
Urdu 12: نیکی سے روکنے والا حد سے بڑھاہوا گناہگار ہے


13  
عُتُلٍّ بَعْدَ ذَ‌ٰلِكَ زَنِيمٍ
Transliteration 13: AAutullin baAAda thalika zaneemin
Yusuf Ali 13: Violent (and cruel),- with all that, base-born,-
Mohsin Khan: 13: Cruel, and moreover base-born (of illegitimate birth).
Urdu 13: بڑا اجڈ اس کے بعد بد اصل بھی ہے


14  
أَن كَانَ ذَا مَالٍ وَبَنِينَ
Transliteration 14: An kana tha malin wabaneena
Yusuf Ali 14: Because he possesses wealth and (numerous) sons.
Mohsin Khan: 14: (He was so) because he had wealth and children.
Urdu 14: اس لئے کہ وہ مال اور اولاد والا ہے


15  
إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ آيَاتُنَا قَالَ أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ
Transliteration 15: Itha tutla AAalayhi ayatuna qala asateeru alawwaleena
Yusuf Ali 15: When to him are rehearsed Our Signs, "Tales of the ancients", he cries!
Mohsin Khan: 15: When Our Verses (of the Qur'an) are recited to him, he says: "Tales of the men of old!"
Urdu 15: جب اس پر ہماری آیتیں پڑھی جاتی ہیں تو کہتا ہے پہلوں کی کہانیاں ہیں


16  
سَنَسِمُهُ عَلَى الْخُرْطُومِ
Transliteration 16: Sanasimuhu AAala alkhurtoomi
Yusuf Ali 16: Soon shall We brand (the beast) on the snout!
Mohsin Khan: 16: We shall brand him on the snout (nose)!
Urdu 16: عنقریب ہم اس کی ناک پر داغ لگائیں گے


17  
إِنَّا بَلَوْنَاهُمْ كَمَا بَلَوْنَا أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ إِذْ أَقْسَمُوا لَيَصْرِمُنَّهَا مُصْبِحِينَ
Transliteration 17: Inna balawnahum kama balawna ashaba aljannati ith aqsamoo layasrimunnaha musbiheena
Yusuf Ali 17: Verily We have tried them as We tried the People of the Garden, when they resolved to gather the fruits of the (garden) in the morning.
Mohsin Khan: 17: Verily, We have tried them as We tried the people of the garden, when they swore to pluck the fruits of the (garden) in the morning,
Urdu 17: بے شک ہم نے ان کو آزمایا ہے جیسا کہ ہم نے باغ والوں کو آزمایا تھا جب انہوں نے قسم کھائی تھی کہ وہ ضرور صبح ہوتے ہی اس کا پھل توڑ لیں گے


18  
وَلَا يَسْتَثْنُونَ
Transliteration 18: Wala yastathnoona
Yusuf Ali 18: But made no reservation, ("If it be Allah's Will").
Mohsin Khan: 18: Without saying: Insha' Allah (If Allah wills).
Urdu 18: اور انشاالله بھی نہ کہا تھا


19  
فَطَافَ عَلَيْهَا طَائِفٌ مِّن رَّبِّكَ وَهُمْ نَائِمُونَ
Transliteration 19: Fatafa AAalayha taifun min rabbika wahum naimoona
Yusuf Ali 19: Then there came on the (garden) a visitation from thy Lord, (which swept away) all around, while they were asleep.
Mohsin Khan: 19: Then there passed by on the (garden) a visitation (fire) from your Lord at night and burnt it while they were asleep.
Urdu 19: پھر تو اس پر رات ہی میں آپ کے رب کی طرف سے ایک جھونکا چل گیا درآنحالیکہ وہ سونے والے تھے


20  
فَأَصْبَحَتْ كَالصَّرِيمِ
Transliteration 20: Faasbahat kaalssareemi
Yusuf Ali 20: So the (garden) became, by the morning, like a dark and desolate spot, (whose fruit had been gathered).
Mohsin Khan: 20: So the (garden) became black by the morning, like a pitch dark night (in complete ruins).
Urdu 20: پھر وہ کٹی ہوئی کھیتی کی طرح ہو گیا


21  
فَتَنَادَوْا مُصْبِحِينَ
Transliteration 21: Fatanadaw musbiheena
Yusuf Ali 21: As the morning broke, they called out, one to another,-
Mohsin Khan: 21: Then they called out one to another as soon as the morning broke.
Urdu 21: پھر وہ صبح کو پکارنے لگے


22  
أَنِ اغْدُوا عَلَىٰ حَرْثِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَارِمِينَ
Transliteration 22: Ani ighdoo AAala harthikum in kuntum sarimeena
Yusuf Ali 22: "Go ye to your tilth (betimes) in the morning, if ye would gather the fruits."
Mohsin Khan: 22: Saying: "Go to your tilth in the morning, if you would pluck the fruits."
Urdu 22: کہ اپنے کھیت پر سویرے چلو اگر تم نے پھل توڑنا ہے


23  
فَانطَلَقُوا وَهُمْ يَتَخَافَتُونَ
Transliteration 23: Faintalaqoo wahum yatakhafatoona
Yusuf Ali 23: So they departed, conversing in secret low tones, (saying)-
Mohsin Khan: 23: So they departed, conversing in secret low tones (saying):
Urdu 23: پھر وہ آپس میں چپکے چپکے یہ کہتے ہوئے چلے


24  
أَن لَّا يَدْخُلَنَّهَا الْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكُم مِّسْكِينٌ
Transliteration 24: An la yadkhulannaha alyawma AAalaykum miskeenun
Yusuf Ali 24: "Let not a single indigent person break in upon you into the (garden) this day."
Mohsin Khan: 24: "No Miskin (poor man) shall enter upon you into it today."
Urdu 24: کہ تمہارے باغ میں آج کوئی محتاج نہ آنے پائے


25  
وَغَدَوْا عَلَىٰ حَرْدٍ قَادِرِينَ
Transliteration 25: Waghadaw AAala hardin qadireena
Yusuf Ali 25: And they opened the morning, strong in an (unjust) resolve.
Mohsin Khan: 25: And they went in the morning with strong intention, thinking that they have power (to prevent the poor taking anything of the fruits therefrom).
Urdu 25: اور وہ سویرے ہی بڑے اہتمام سے پھل توڑنے کی قدرت کا خیال کر کے چل پڑے


26  
فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهَا قَالُوا إِنَّا لَضَالُّونَ
Transliteration 26: Falamma raawha qaloo inna ladalloona
Yusuf Ali 26: But when they saw the (garden), they said: "We have surely lost our way:
Mohsin Khan: 26: But when they saw the (garden), they said: "Verily, we have gone astray."
Urdu 26: پس جب انہوں نے اسے دیکھا تو کہنے لگےکہ ہم تو راہ بھول گئے ہیں


27  
بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ
Transliteration 27: Bal nahnu mahroomoona
Yusuf Ali 27: "Indeed we are shut out (of the fruits of our labour)!"
Mohsin Khan: 27: (Then they said): "Nay! Indeed we are deprived of (the fruits)!"
Urdu 27: بلکہ ہم تو بدنصیب ہیں


28  
قَالَ أَوْسَطُهُمْ أَلَمْ أَقُل لَّكُمْ لَوْلَا تُسَبِّحُونَ
Transliteration 28: Qala awsatuhum alam aqul lakum lawla tusabbihoona
Yusuf Ali 28: Said one of them, more just (than the rest): "Did I not say to you, 'Why not glorify (Allah)?'"
Mohsin Khan: 28: The best among them said: "Did I not tell you: why say you not: Insha' Allah (If Allah wills)."
Urdu 28: پھر ان میں سے اچھے آدمی نے کہا کیامیں نے تمہیں نہیں کہا تھا کہ تم کس لیے تسبیح نہیں کرتے


29  
قَالُوا سُبْحَانَ رَبِّنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَالِمِينَ
Transliteration 29: Qaloo subhana rabbina inna kunna thalimeena
Yusuf Ali 29: They said: "Glory to our Lord! Verily we have been doing wrong!"
Mohsin Khan: 29: They said: "Glory to Our Lord! Verily, we have been Zalimun (wrong-doers)."
Urdu 29: انہوں نے کہا ہمارا رب پاک ہے بے شک ہم ظالم تھے


30  
فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَلَاوَمُونَ
Transliteration 30: Faaqbala baAAduhum AAala baAAdin yatalawamoona
Yusuf Ali 30: Then they turned, one against another, in reproach.
Mohsin Khan: 30: Then they turned one against another, blaming.
Urdu 30: پھر ایک دوسرے کی طرف متوجہ ہو کر آپس میں ملامت کرنے لگے


31  
قَالُوا يَا وَيْلَنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا طَاغِينَ
Transliteration 31: Qaloo ya waylana inna kunna tagheena
Yusuf Ali 31: They said: "Alas for us! We have indeed transgressed!
Mohsin Khan: 31: They said: "Woe to us! Verily, we were Taghun (transgressors and disobedient)
Urdu 31: انہوں نے کہا ہائے افسوس بے شک ہم سرکش تھے


32  
عَسَىٰ رَبُّنَا أَن يُبْدِلَنَا خَيْرًا مِّنْهَا إِنَّا إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا رَاغِبُونَ
Transliteration 32: AAasa rabbuna an yubdilana khayran minha inna ila rabbina raghiboona
Yusuf Ali 32: "It may be that our Lord will give us in exchange a better (garden) than this: for we do turn to Him (in repentance)!"
Mohsin Khan: 32: We hope that our Lord will give us in exchange a better (garden) than this. Truly, we turn to our Lord (wishing for good that He may forgive our sins and reward us in the Hereafter).
Urdu 32: شاید ہمارا رب ہمارے لیے اس سے بہتر باغ بدل دے بے شک ہم اپنے رب کی طرف رجوع کرنے والے ہیں


33  
كَذَ‌ٰلِكَ الْعَذَابُ ۖ وَلَعَذَابُ الْآخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ ۚ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ
Transliteration 33: Kathalika alAAathabu walaAAathabu alakhirati akbaru law kanoo yaAAlamoona
Yusuf Ali 33: Such is the Punishment (in this life); but greater is the Punishment in the Hereafter,- if only they knew!
Mohsin Khan: 33: Such is the punishment (in this life), but truly, the punishment of the Hereafter is greater if they but knew.
Urdu 33: عذاب یونہی ہوا کرتا ہے اور البتہ آخرت کا عذاب تو کہیں بڑھ کر ہے کاش وہ جانتے


34  
إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ
Transliteration 34: Inna lilmuttaqeena AAinda rabbihim jannati alnnaAAeemi
Yusuf Ali 34: Verily, for the Righteous, are Gardens of Delight, in the Presence of their Lord.
Mohsin Khan: 34: Verily, for the Muttaqun (the pious - See V.2:2) are Gardens of delight (Paradise) with their Lord.
Urdu 34: بے شک پرہیزگاروں کے لیے ان کے رب کے ہاں نعمت کے باغ ہیں


35  
أَفَنَجْعَلُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ كَالْمُجْرِمِينَ
Transliteration 35: AfanajAAalu almuslimeena kaalmujrimeena
Yusuf Ali 35: Shall We then treat the People of Faith like the People of Sin?
Mohsin Khan: 35: Shall We then treat the Muslims (believers of Islamic Monotheism, doers of righteous deeds) like the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists and disbelievers, etc.)?
Urdu 35: پس کیا ہم فرمانبرداروں کو مجرموں کی طرح کر دیں گے


36  
مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ
Transliteration 36: Ma lakum kayfa tahkumoona
Yusuf Ali 36: What is the matter with you? How judge ye?
Mohsin Khan: 36: What is the matter with you? How judge you?
Urdu 36: تمہیں کیا ہوگیا کیسا فیصلہ کر رہے ہو


37  
أَمْ لَكُمْ كِتَابٌ فِيهِ تَدْرُسُونَ
Transliteration 37: Am lakum kitabun feehi tadrusoona
Yusuf Ali 37: Or have ye a book through which ye learn-
Mohsin Khan: 37: Or have you a Book wherein you learn,
Urdu 37: کیا تمہارے پاس کوئی کتاب ہے جس میں تم پڑھتے ہو


38  
إِنَّ لَكُمْ فِيهِ لَمَا تَخَيَّرُونَ
Transliteration 38: Inna lakum feehi lama takhayyaroona
Yusuf Ali 38: That ye shall have, through it whatever ye choose?
Mohsin Khan: 38: That you shall therein have all that you choose?
Urdu 38: کہ بے شک تمہیں آخرت میں ملے گا جو تم پسند کرتے ہو


39  
أَمْ لَكُمْ أَيْمَانٌ عَلَيْنَا بَالِغَةٌ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ ۙ إِنَّ لَكُمْ لَمَا تَحْكُمُونَ
Transliteration 39: Am lakum aymanun AAalayna balighatun ila yawmi alqiyamati inna lakum lama tahkumoona
Yusuf Ali 39: Or have ye Covenants with Us to oath, reaching to the Day of Judgment, (providing) that ye shall have whatever ye shall demand?
Mohsin Khan: 39: Or have you oaths from Us, reaching to the Day of Resurrection, that yours will be what you judge?
Urdu 39: کیا تمہارے لیے ہم نے قسمیں کھا لی ہیں جو قیامت تک چلی جائيں گی کہ بے شک تمہیں وہی ملے گا جو تم حکم کرو گے


40  
سَلْهُمْ أَيُّهُم بِذَ‌ٰلِكَ زَعِيمٌ
Transliteration 40: Salhum ayyuhum bithalika zaAAeemun
Yusuf Ali 40: Ask thou of them, which of them will stand surety for that!
Mohsin Khan: 40: Ask them, which of them will stand surety for that!
Urdu 40: ان سے پوچھیئے کون سا ان میں اس بات کا ذمہ دار ہے


41  
أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَاءُ فَلْيَأْتُوا بِشُرَكَائِهِمْ إِن كَانُوا صَادِقِينَ
Transliteration 41: Am lahum shurakao falyatoo bishurakaihim in kanoo sadiqeena
Yusuf Ali 41: Or have they some "Partners" (in Allahhead)? Then let them produce their "partners", if they are truthful!
Mohsin Khan: 41: Or have they "partners"? Then let them bring their "partners" if they are truthful!
Urdu 41: کیا ان کے معبود ہیں پھر اپنے معبودوں کو لے آئيں اگر وہ سچے ہیں


42  
يَوْمَ يُكْشَفُ عَن سَاقٍ وَيُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى السُّجُودِ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ
Transliteration 42: Yawma yukshafu AAan saqin wayudAAawna ila alssujoodi fala yastateeAAoona
Yusuf Ali 42: The Day that the shin shall be laid bare, and they shall be summoned to bow in adoration, but they shall not be able,-
Mohsin Khan: 42: (Remember) the Day when the Shin shall be laid bare (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) and they shall be called to prostrate themselves (to Allah), but they (hypocrites) shall not be able to do so.
Urdu 42: جس دن پنڈلی کھولی جائے گی اور وہ سجدہ کرنے کو بلائے جائیں گے تو وہ نہ کر سکیں گے


43  
خَاشِعَةً أَبْصَارُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ۖ وَقَدْ كَانُوا يُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى السُّجُودِ وَهُمْ سَالِمُونَ
Transliteration 43: KhashiAAatan absaruhum tarhaquhum thillatun waqad kanoo yudAAawna ila alssujoodi wahum salimoona
Yusuf Ali 43: Their eyes will be cast down,- ignominy will cover them; seeing that they had been summoned aforetime to bow in adoration, while they were whole, (and had refused).
Mohsin Khan: 43: Their eyes will be cast down and ignominy will cover them; they used to be called to prostrate themselves (offer prayers), while they were healthy and good (in the life of the world, but they did not).
Urdu 43: ان کی آنکھیں جھکی ہوں گی ان پر ذلت چھا رہی ہو گی اوروہ پہلے (دنیا میں) سجدہ کے لیے بلائے جاتے تھے حالانکہ وہ صحیح سالم ہوتے تھے


44  
فَذَرْنِي وَمَن يُكَذِّبُ بِهَـٰذَا الْحَدِيثِ ۖ سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُم مِّنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
Transliteration 44: Fatharnee waman yukaththibu bihatha alhadeethi sanastadrijuhum min haythu la yaAAlamoona
Yusuf Ali 44: Then leave Me alone with such as reject this Message: by degrees shall We punish them from directions they perceive not.
Mohsin Khan: 44: Then leave Me Alone with such as belie this Qur'an. We shall punish them gradually from directions they perceive not.
Urdu 44: پس مجھے اور اس کلام کے جھٹلانے والوں کو چھوڑ دو ہم انہیں بتدریج (جہنم کی طرف) لے جائے گے اس طور پر کہ انہیں خبر بھی نہیں ہو گی


45  
وَأُمْلِي لَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ كَيْدِي مَتِينٌ
Transliteration 45: Waomlee lahum inna kaydee mateenun
Yusuf Ali 45: A (long) respite will I grant them: truly powerful is My Plan.
Mohsin Khan: 45: And I will grant them a respite. Verily, My Plan is strong.
Urdu 45: اور ہم انکو ڈھیل دیتے ہیں بے شک ہماری تدبیر زبردست ہے


46  
أَمْ تَسْأَلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍ مُّثْقَلُونَ
Transliteration 46: Am tasaluhum ajran fahum min maghramin muthqaloona
Yusuf Ali 46: Or is it that thou dost ask them for a reward, so that they are burdened with a load of debt?-
Mohsin Khan: 46: Or is it that you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) ask them a wage, so that they are heavily burdened with debt?
Urdu 46: کیا آپ ان سے کچھ اجرت مانگتے ہیں کہ جس کا تاوان کا ان پر بوجھ پڑ رہا ہے


47  
أَمْ عِندَهُمُ الْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ
Transliteration 47: Am AAindahumu alghaybu fahum yaktuboona
Yusuf Ali 47: Or that the Unseen is in their hands, so that they can write it down?
Mohsin Khan: 47: Or that the Ghaib (the Unseen - here in this Verse it means Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz) is in their hands, so that they can write it down?
Urdu 47: یا ان کے پاس غیب کی خبر ہے کہ وہ اسے لکھ لیتے ہیں


48  
فَاصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تَكُن كَصَاحِبِ الْحُوتِ إِذْ نَادَىٰ وَهُوَ مَكْظُومٌ
Transliteration 48: Faisbir lihukmi rabbika wala takun kasahibi alhooti ith nada wahuwa makthoomun
Yusuf Ali 48: So wait with patience for the Command of thy Lord, and be not like the Companion of the Fish,- when he cried out in agony.
Mohsin Khan: 48: So wait with patience for the Decision of your Lord, and be not like the Companion of the Fish - when he cried out (to Us) while he was in deep sorrow. (See the Qur'an, Verse 21:87).
Urdu 48: پھر آپ اپنے رب کے حکم کا انتظار کریں اور مچھلی والے جیسے نہ ہوجائیں جب کہ اس نے اپنے رب کو پکارا اور وہ بہت ہی غمگین تھا


49  
لَّوْلَا أَن تَدَارَكَهُ نِعْمَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِ لَنُبِذَ بِالْعَرَاءِ وَهُوَ مَذْمُومٌ
Transliteration 49: Lawla an tadarakahu niAAmatun min rabbihi lanubitha bialAAarai wahuwa mathmoomun
Yusuf Ali 49: Had not Grace from his Lord reached him, he would indeed have been cast off on the naked shore, in disgrace.
Mohsin Khan: 49: Had not a Grace from his Lord reached him, he would indeed have been (left in the stomach of the fish, but We forgave him): so he was cast off on the naked shore, while he was to be blamed.
Urdu 49: اگر اس کے رب کی رحمت اسے نہ سنبھال لیتی تو وہ برے حال سے چٹیل میدان میں پھینکا جاتا


50  
فَاجْتَبَاهُ رَبُّهُ فَجَعَلَهُ مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ
Transliteration 50: Faijtabahu rabbuhu fajaAAalahu mina alssaliheena
Yusuf Ali 50: Thus did his Lord choose him and make him of the Company of the Righteous.
Mohsin Khan: 50: Then his Lord chose him and made him of the righteous.
Urdu 50: پس اسے اس کے رب نے نوازا پھر اسے نیک بختو ں میں کر دیا


51  
وَإِن يَكَادُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَيُزْلِقُونَكَ بِأَبْصَارِهِمْ لَمَّا سَمِعُوا الذِّكْرَ وَيَقُولُونَ إِنَّهُ لَمَجْنُونٌ
Transliteration 51: Wain yakadu allatheena kafaroo layuzliqoonaka biabsarihim lamma samiAAoo alththikra wayaqooloona innahu lamajnoonun
Yusuf Ali 51: And the Unbelievers would almost trip thee up with their eyes when they hear the Message; and they say: "Surely he is possessed!"
Mohsin Khan: 51: And verily, those who disbelieve would almost make you slip with their eyes (through hatred) when they hear the Reminder (the Qur'an), and they say: "Verily, he (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) is a madman!"
Urdu 51: اور بالکل قریب تھا کہ کافر آپ کو اپنی تیز نگاہوں سے پھسلا دیں جب کہ انہوں نے قرآن سنا اور کہتے ہیں کہ یہ تو دیوانہ ہے


52  
وَمَا هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَالَمِينَ
Transliteration 52: Wama huwa illa thikrun lilAAalameena
Yusuf Ali 52: But it is nothing less than a Message to all the worlds.
Mohsin Khan: 52: But it is nothing else than a Reminder to all the 'Alamin (mankind, and jinn).
Urdu 52: اور حالانکہ یہ قرآن تمام دنیا کے لیے صرف نصیحت ہے
