| | Shakir 2: | And the night when it covers with darkness. |

| | Pickthal 2: | And by the night when it is stillest, |

| | Mohsin Khan: 2: | By the night when it darkens (and stand still). |

3 | مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَىٰ |

| | Transliteration 3: | Ma waddaAAaka rabbuka wama qala |
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 3: | Thy Guardian-Lord hath not forsaken thee, nor is He displeased. |
| |
| | Shakir 3: | Your Lord has not forsaken you, nor has He become displeased, |
| |
| | Pickthal 3: | Thy Lord hath not forsaken thee nor doth He hate thee, |
| |
| | Mohsin Khan: 3: | Your Lord (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) has neither forsaken you nor hates you. |

| | French 3: | Ton Seigneur ne t'a ni abandonné, ni détesté. |

| | Spanish 3: | Tu Señor no te ha abonadonado ni aborrecido |

| | Indonesian 3: | Tuhanmu tiada meninggalkan kamu dan tiada (pula) benci kepadamu ,

| | Malay 3: | (Bahawa) Tuhanmu (wahai Muhammad) tidak meninggalkanmu, dan Ia tidak benci (kepadamu, sebagaimana yang dituduh oleh kaum musyrik). |

| | Russian 3: | Не покинул тебя твой Господь и не возненавидел. |

| | Urdu 3: | آپ کے رب نے نہ آپ کو چھوڑا ہے اور نہ بیزار ہوا ہے |

|
4 | وَلَلْآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لَّكَ مِنَ الْأُولَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 4: | Walalakhiratu khayrun laka mina aloola |
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 4: | And verily the Hereafter will be better for thee than the present. |
| |
| | Shakir 4: | And surely what comes after is better for you than that which has gone before. |
| |
| | Pickthal 4: | And verily the latter portion will be better for thee than the former, |
| |
| | Mohsin Khan: 4: | And indeed the Hereafter is better for you than the present (life of this world). |

| | French 4: | La vie dernière t'est, certes, meilleure que la vie présente. |

| | Spanish 4: | Sí, la otra vida será mejor para ti que ésta. |

5 | وَلَسَوْفَ يُعْطِيكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرْضَىٰ |

| | Transliteration 5: | Walasawfa yuAAteeka rabbuka fatarda |

| | Yusuf Ali 5: | And soon will thy Guardian-Lord give thee (that wherewith) thou shalt be well-pleased. |
| |
| | Shakir 5: | And soon will your Lord give you so that you shall be well pleased. |
| |
| | Pickthal 5: | And verily thy Lord will give unto thee so that thou wilt be content. |
| |
| | Mohsin Khan: 5: | And verily, your Lord will give you (all good) so that you shall be well-pleased. |

| | French 5: | Ton Seigneur t'accordera certes [Ses faveurs], et alors tu seras satisfait. |

| | Spanish 5: | Tu Señor te dará y quedarás satisfecho. |

| | Indonesian 5: | Dan kelak Tuhanmu pasti memberikan karunia-Nya kepadamu, lalu (hati) kamu menjadi puas.

| | Malay 5: | Dan sesungguhnya Tuhanmu akan memberikanmu (kejayaan dan kebahagiaan di dunia dan di akhirat) sehingga engkau reda - berpuas hati. |

| | German 5: | Und dein Herr wird dir wahrlich geben, und dann wirst du zufrieden sein. |

| | Russian 5: | Господь твой непременно одарит тебя, и ты будешь удовлетворен. |

| | Bosnian 5: | a Gospodar tvoj će tebi, sigurno, dati, pa ćeš zadovoljan biti! |

| | Urdu 5: | اور آپ کا رب آپ کو (اتنا) دے گا کہ آپ خوش ہو جائیں گے |

6 | أَلَمْ يَجِدْكَ يَتِيمًا فَآوَىٰ |

| | Transliteration 6: | Alam yajidka yateeman faawa |
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 6: | Did He not find thee an orphan and give thee shelter (and care)? |
| |
| | Shakir 6: | Did He not find you an orphan and give you shelter? |
| |
| | Pickthal 6: | Did He not find thee an orphan and protect (thee)? |
| |
| | Mohsin Khan: 6: | Did He not find you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) an orphan and gave you a refuge? |

| | French 6: | Ne t'a-t-Il pas trouvé orphelin? Alors Il t'a accueilli! |

| | Spanish 6: | ¿No te encontró huérfano y te recogió? |

7 | وَوَجَدَكَ ضَالًّا فَهَدَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 7: | Wawajadaka dallan fahada |
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 7: | And He found thee wandering, and He gave thee guidance. |
| |
| | Shakir 7: | And find you lost (that is, unrecognized by men) and guide (them to you)? |
| |
| | Pickthal 7: | Did He not find thee wandering and direct (thee)? |
| |
| | Mohsin Khan: 7: | And He found you unaware (of the Qur'an, its laws, and Prophethood) and guided you? |
| |
| | French 7: | Ne t'a-t-Il pas trouvé égaré? Alors Il t'a guidé. |

| | Spanish 7: | ¿No te encontró extraviado y te dirigió? |
| |
| | Indonesian 7: | Dan Dia mendapatimu sebagai seorang yang bingung , lalu Dia memberikan petunjuk.

| | Malay 7: | Dan didapatiNya engkau mencari-cari (jalan yang benar), lalu Ia memberikan hidayah petunjuk (dengan wahyu - Al-Quran)? |

| | Russian 7: | Он нашел тебя заблудшим и повел прямым путем. |

| | Bosnian 7: | i za pravu vjeru nisi znao, pa te je na Pravi put uputio, |

| | Urdu 7: | اور آپ کو (شریعت سے) بے خبر پایا پھر (شریعت کا) راستہ بتایا |

|
8 | وَوَجَدَكَ عَائِلًا فَأَغْنَىٰ |
| |
| | Transliteration 8: | Wawajadaka AAailan faaghna |
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 8: | And He found thee in need, and made thee independent. |
| |
| | Shakir 8: | And find you in want and make you to be free from want? |
| |
| | Pickthal 8: | Did He not find thee destitute and enrich (thee)? |
| |
| | Mohsin Khan: 8: | And He found you poor and made you rich (self-sufficient with self-contentment)? |
| |
| | French 8: | Ne t'a-t-Il pas trouvé pauvre? Alors Il t'a enrichi. |
| |
| | Spanish 8: | ¿No te encontró pobre y te enriqueció? |
| |
| | Indonesian 8: | Dan Dia mendapatimu sebagai seorang yang kekurangan, lalu Dia memberikan kecukupan.

| | Malay 8: | Dan didapatiNya engkau miskin, lalu Ia memberikan kekayaan? |

| | German 8: | und dich arm gefunden und dann reich gemacht? |

| | Russian 8: | Он нашел тебя бедным и обогатил. |

| | Bosnian 8: | i siromah si bio, pa te je imućnim učinio? |

| | Urdu 8: | اوراس نے آپ کو تنگدست پایا پھر غنی کر دیا |

|
9 | فَأَمَّا الْيَتِيمَ فَلَا تَقْهَرْ |
| |
| | Transliteration 9: | Faamma alyateema fala taqhar |
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 9: | Therefore, treat not the orphan with harshness, |
| |
| | Shakir 9: | Therefore, as for the orphan, do not oppress (him). |
| |
| | Pickthal 9: | Therefor the orphan oppress not, |
| |
| | Mohsin Khan: 9: | Therefore, treat not the orphan with oppression. |
| |
| | French 9: | Quant à l'orphelin, donc, ne le maltraite pas. |
| |
| | Spanish 9: | En cuanto al huérfano, ¡no le oprimas! |
| |
| | Indonesian 9: | Adapun terhadap anak yatim maka janganlah kamu berlaku sewenang-wenang.

| | Malay 9: | Oleh itu, adapun anak yatim maka janganlah engkau berlaku kasar terhadapnya, |

| | German 9: | Was nun die Waise angeht, so unterjoche (sie) nicht, |

| | Russian 9: | Посему не притесняй сироту! |

| | Bosnian 9: | Zato siroče ne ucvili, |

| | Urdu 9: | پھر یتیم کو دبایا نہ کرو |
| |

| |
|
10 | وَأَمَّا السَّائِلَ فَلَا تَنْهَرْ |
| |
| | Transliteration 10: | Waamma alssaila fala tanhar |
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 10: | Nor repulse the petitioner (unheard); |
| |
| | Shakir 10: | And as for him who asks, do not chide (him), |
| |
| | Pickthal 10: | Therefor the beggar drive not away, |
| |
| | Mohsin Khan: 10: | And repulse not the beggar. |
| |
| | French 10: | Quant au demandeur, ne le repousse pas. |
| |
| | Spanish 10: | Y en cuanto al mendigo, ¡no le rechaces! |
| |
| | Indonesian 10: | Dan terhadap orang yang minta-minta maka janganlah kamu menghardiknya.
|

| | Malay 10: | Adapun orang yang meminta (bantuan pimpinan) maka janganlah engkau tengking herdik; |

| | German 10: | und was den Bettler angeht, so fahre (ihn) nicht an, |
| |
| | Russian 10: | И не гони просящего! |

| | Bosnian 10: | a na prosjaka ne podvikni, |
| |
| | Urdu 10: | اورسائل کو جھڑکا نہ کرو |
| |

| |
|
11 | وَأَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ |
| |
| | Transliteration 11: | Waamma biniAAmati rabbika fahaddith |
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 11: | But the bounty of the Lord - rehearse and proclaim! |
| |
| | Shakir 11: | And as for the favor of your Lord, do announce (it). |
| |
| | Pickthal 11: | Therefor of the bounty of thy Lord be thy discourse. |
| |
| | Mohsin Khan: 11: | And proclaim the Grace of your Lord (i.e. the Prophethood and all other Graces). |
| |
| | French 11: | Et quant au bienfait de ton Seigneur, proclame-le. |
| |
| | Spanish 11: | Y en cuanto a la gracia de tu Señor, ¡publícala! |
| |
| | Indonesian 11: | Dan terhadap ni'mat Tuhanmu maka hendaklah kamu menyebut-nyebutnya (dengan bersyukur).

| | Malay 11: | Adapun nikmat Tuhanmu, maka hendaklah engkau sebut-sebutkan (dan zahirkan) sebagai bersyukur kepadaNya. |

| | German 11: | und was die Gunst deines Herrn angeht, so erzähle (davon). |

| | Russian 11: | И возвещай о милости своего Господа. |

| | Bosnian 11: | i o blagodati Gospodara svoga kazuj! |
