| 166. | وَمَا أَصَابَكُمْ يَوْمَ الْتَقَى الْجَمْعَانِ فَبِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ وَلِيَعْلَمَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Wama asabakum yawma iltaqa aljamAAani fabiithni Allahi waliyaAAlama almumineena |
| Yusuf Ali: | What ye suffered on the day the two armies Met, was with the leave of Allah, in order that He might test the believers,- |
| Shakir: | And what befell you on the day when the two armies met (at Ohud) was with Allah's knowledge, and that He might know the believers. |
| Pickthall: | That which befell you, on the day when the two armies met, was by permission of Allah; that He might know the true believers; |
| Mohsin Khan: | And what you suffered (of the disaster) on the day (of the battle of Uhud when) the two armies met, was by the leave of Allah, in order that He might test the believers. |
| Saheeh: | And what struck you on the day the two armies met was by permission of Allah that He might make evident the [true] believers. |
| Urdu: | اور جو کچھ تمہیں اس دن پیش آیا جس دن دونوں جماعتیں ملیں سو الله کے حکم سے ہوا او رتاکہ الله ایمان دارو ں کو ظاہر کر دے |
