| 73. | وَإِلَىٰ ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمْ صَالِحًا ۗ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَـٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۖ قَدْ جَاءَتْكُم بَيِّنَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ ۖ هَـٰذِهِ نَاقَةُ اللَّهِ لَكُمْ آيَةً ۖ فَذَرُوهَا تَأْكُلْ فِي أَرْضِ اللَّهِ ۖ وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ |
| Transliteration: | Waila thamooda akhahum salihan qala ya qawmi oAAbudoo Allaha ma lakum min ilahin ghayruhu qad jaatkum bayyinatun min rabbikum hathihi naqatu Allahi lakum ayatan fatharooha takul fee ardi Allahi wala tamassooha bisooin fayakhuthakum AAathabun aleemun |
| Yusuf Ali: | To the Thamud people (We sent) Salih, one of their own brethren: He said: "O my people! worship Allah: ye have no other god but Him. Now hath come unto you a clear (Sign) from your Lord! This she-camel of Allah is a Sign unto you: So leave her to graze in Allah's earth, and let her come to no harm, or ye shall be seized with a grievous punishment. |
| Shakir: | And to Samood (We sent) their brother Salih. He said: O my people! serve Allah, you have no god other than Him; clear proof indeed has come to you from your Lord; this is (as) Allah's she-camel for you-- a sign, therefore leave her alone to pasture on Allah's earth, and do not touch her with any harm, otherwise painful chastisement will overtake you. |
| Pickthall: | And to (the tribe of) Thamud (We sent) their brother Salih. He said: O my people! Serve Allah. Ye have no other Allah save Him. A wonder from your Lord hath come unto you. Lo! this is the camel of Allah, a token unto you; so let her feed in Allah's earth, and touch her not with hurt lest painful torment seize you. |
| Mohsin Khan: | And to Thamud (people, We sent) their brother Salih. He said: "O my people! Worship Allah! You have no other Ilah (God) but Him. (La ilaha illallah: none has the right to be worshipped but Allah). Indeed there has come to you a clear sign (the miracle of the coming out of a huge she-camel from the midst of a rock) from your Lord. This she-camel of Allah is a sign unto you; so you leave her to graze in Allah's earth, and touch her not with harm, lest a painful torment should seize you. |
| Saheeh: | And to the Thamud [We sent] their brother Salih. He said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. There has come to you clear evidence from your Lord. This is the she-camel of Allah [sent] to you as a sign. So leave her to eat within Allah 's land and do not touch her with harm, lest there seize you a painful punishment. |
| Urdu: | اور ثمود کی طرف ان کے بھائی صالح کو بھیجا فرمایا اے میری قوم الله کی بندگی کرو اس کے سوا تمہارا کوئی معبود نہیں تمہیں تمہراے رب کی طرف سے دلیل پہنچ چکی ہے یہ الله کی اونٹنی تمہارے لیے نشانی ہے سو اسے چھوڑ دو کہ الله کی زمین میں کھائے اور اسے بری طرح سے ہاتھ نہ لگاؤ ورنہ تمہیں دردناک عذاب پکڑے گا |

| 74. | وَاذْكُرُوا إِذْ جَعَلَكُمْ خُلَفَاءَ مِن بَعْدِ عَادٍ وَبَوَّأَكُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ تَتَّخِذُونَ مِن سُهُولِهَا قُصُورًا وَتَنْحِتُونَ الْجِبَالَ بُيُوتًا ۖ فَاذْكُرُوا آلَاءَ اللَّهِ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا فِي الْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Waothkuroo ith jaAAalakum khulafaa min baAAdi AAadin wabawwaakum fee alardi tattakhithoona min suhooliha qusooran watanhitoona aljibala buyootan faothkuroo alaa Allahi wala taAAthaw fee alardi mufsideena |
| Yusuf Ali: | "And remember how He made you inheritors after the 'Ad people and gave you habitations in the land: ye build for yourselves palaces and castles in (open) plains, and carve out homes in the mountains; so bring to remembrance the benefits (ye have received) from Allah, and refrain from evil and mischief on the earth." |
| Shakir: | And remember when He made you successors after Ad and settled you in the land-- you make mansions on its plains and hew out houses in the mountains-- remember therefore Allah's benefits and do not act corruptly in the land, making mischief. |
| Pickthall: | And remember how He made you viceroys after A'ad and gave you station in the earth. Ye choose castles in the plains and hew the mountains into dwellings. So remember (all) the bounties of Allah and do not evil, making mischief in the earth. |
| Mohsin Khan: | And remember when He made you successors after 'Ad (people) and gave you habitations in the land, you build for yourselves palaces in plains, and carve out homes in the mountains. So remember the graces (bestowed upon you) from Allah, and do not go about making mischief on the earth." |
| Saheeh: | And remember when He made you successors after the 'Aad and settled you in the land, [and] you take for yourselves palaces from its plains and carve from the mountains, homes. Then remember the favors of Allah and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption." |
| Urdu: | اور یاد کرو جب کہ تمہیں عاد کے بعد جانشین بنایا اور تمہیں زمین میں جگہ دی کہ نرم زمین میں محل بناتے ہو اور پہاڑو ں میں گھر تراشتے ہو سو الله کے احسان کو یاد کرو اور زمین میں فساد مت مچاتے پھرو |

| 75. | قَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا مِن قَوْمِهِ لِلَّذِينَ اسْتُضْعِفُوا لِمَنْ آمَنَ مِنْهُمْ أَتَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ صَالِحًا مُّرْسَلٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِ ۚ قَالُوا إِنَّا بِمَا أُرْسِلَ بِهِ مُؤْمِنُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Qala almalao allatheena istakbaroo min qawmihi lillatheena istudAAifoo liman amana minhum ataAAlamoona anna salihan mursalun min rabbihi qaloo inna bima orsila bihi muminoona |
| Yusuf Ali: | The leaders of the arrogant party among his people said to those who were reckoned powerless - those among them who believed: "know ye indeed that Salih is a messenger from his Lord?" They said: "We do indeed believe in the revelation which hath been sent through him." |
| Shakir: | The chief of those who behaved proudly among his people said to those who were considered weak, to those who believed from among them: Do you know that Salih is sent by his Lord? They said: Surely we are believers in what he has been sent with |
| Pickthall: | The chieftains of his people, who were scornful, said unto those whom they despised, unto such of them as believed: Know ye that Salih is one sent from his Lord? They said: Lo! In that wherewith he hath been sent we are believers. |
| Mohsin Khan: | The leaders of those who were arrogant among his people said to those who were counted weak - to such of them as believed: "Know you that Salih is one sent from his Lord." They said: "We indeed believe in that with which he has been sent." |
| Saheeh: | Said the eminent ones who were arrogant among his people to those who were oppressed - to those who believed among them, "Do you [actually] know that Salih is sent from his Lord?" They said, "Indeed we, in that with which he was sent, are believers." |
| Urdu: | اس قوم کے متکبر سرداروں نے غریبوں سے کہا جو ایمان لاچکے تھے کیا تمہیں یقن ہے کہ صالح کو اس کے رب نے بھیجا ہے انہوں نے کہا جو وہ لے کر آیا ہے ہم اس پرایمان لانے والے ہیں |

| 76. | قَالَ الَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا إِنَّا بِالَّذِي آمَنتُم بِهِ كَافِرُونَ |
| Transliteration: | Qala allatheena istakbaroo inna biallathee amantum bihi kafiroona |
| Yusuf Ali: | The Arrogant party said: "For our part, we reject what ye believe in." |
| Shakir: | Those who were haughty said: Surely we are deniers of what you believe in. |
| Pickthall: | Those who were scornful said: Lo! in that which ye believe we are disbelievers. |
| Mohsin Khan: | Those who were arrogant said: "Verily, we disbelieve in that which you believe in." |
| Saheeh: | Said those who were arrogant, "Indeed we, in that which you have believed, are disbelievers." |
| Urdu: | متکبروں نے کہا جس پر تمہیں یقین ہے ہم اسے نہیں مانتے |

| 77. | فَعَقَرُوا النَّاقَةَ وَعَتَوْا عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِمْ وَقَالُوا يَا صَالِحُ ائْتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَا إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ |
| Transliteration: | FaAAaqaroo alnnaqata waAAataw AAan amri rabbihim waqaloo ya salihu itina bima taAAiduna in kunta mina almursaleena |
| Yusuf Ali: | Then they ham-strung the she-camel, and insolently defied the order of their Lord, saying: "O Salih! bring about thy threats, if thou art a messenger (of Allah)!" |
| Shakir: | So they slew the she-camel and revolted against their Lord's commandment, and they said: O Salih! bring us what you threatened us with, if you are one of the apostles. |
| Pickthall: | So they hamstrung the she-camel, and they flouted the commandment of their Lord, and they said: O Salih! Bring upon us that thou threatenest if thou art indeed of those sent (from Allah). |
| Mohsin Khan: | So they killed the she-camel and insolently defied the Commandment of their Lord, and said: "O Salih! Bring about your threats if you are indeed one of the Messengers (of Allah)." |
| Saheeh: | So they hamstrung the she-camel and were insolent toward the command of their Lord and said, "O Salih, bring us what you promise us, if you should be of the messengers." |
| Urdu: | پھر اونٹنی کے پاؤں کاٹ ڈالے اور اپنے رب کے حکم سے سرکشی کی اور کہا اے صالح لے آ ہم پر جس سے تو ہمیں ڈراتا تھا اگر تو رسول ہے |

| 78. | فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الرَّجْفَةُ فَأَصْبَحُوا فِي دَارِهِمْ جَاثِمِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Faakhathathumu alrrajfatu faasbahoo fee darihim jathimeena |
| Yusuf Ali: | So the earthquake took them unawares, and they lay prostrate in their homes in the morning! |
| Shakir: | Then the earthquake overtook them, so they became motionless bodies in their abode. |
| Pickthall: | So the earthquake seized them, and morning found them prostrate in their dwelling-place. |
| Mohsin Khan: | So the earthquake seized them, and they lay (dead), prostrate in their homes. |
| Saheeh: | So the earthquake seized them, and they became within their home [corpses] fallen prone. |
| Urdu: | پس انہیں زلزلہ نے آ پکڑا پھر صبح کو اپنے گھروں میں اوندھے پڑے ہوئے رہ گئے |

| 79. | فَتَوَلَّىٰ عَنْهُمْ وَقَالَ يَا قَوْمِ لَقَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكُمْ رِسَالَةَ رَبِّي وَنَصَحْتُ لَكُمْ وَلَـٰكِن لَّا تُحِبُّونَ النَّاصِحِينَ |
| Transliteration: | Fatawalla AAanhum waqala ya qawmi laqad ablaghtukum risalata rabbee wanasahtu lakum walakin la tuhibboona alnnasiheena |
| Yusuf Ali: | So Salih left them, saying: "O my people! I did indeed convey to you the message for which I was sent by my Lord: I gave you good counsel, but ye love not good counsellors!" |
| Shakir: | Then he turned away from them and said: O my people I did certainly deliver to you the message of my Lord, and I gave you good advice, but you do not love those who give good advice. |
| Pickthall: | And (Salih) turned from them and said: O my people! I delivered my Lord's message unto you and gave you good advice, but ye love not good advisers. |
| Mohsin Khan: | Then he [Salih] turned from them, and said: "O my people! I have indeed conveyed to you the Message of my Lord, and have given you good advice but you like not good advisers." |
| Saheeh: | And he turned away from them and said, "O my people, I had certainly conveyed to you the message of my Lord and advised you, but you do not like advisors." |
| Urdu: | پھر صالح ان سے منہ موڑ کر چلے اور فرمایا اے میری قوم میں تمہیں اپنے رب کا پیغام پہنچا چکا اور تمہاری خیر خواہی کی لیکن تم خیر خواہوں کو پسند نہیں کرتے تھے |
