45 | وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَىٰ ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمْ صَالِحًا أَنِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ فَإِذَا هُمْ فَرِيقَانِ يَخْتَصِمُونَ |

| | Transliteration 45: | Walaqad arsalna ila thamooda akhahum salihan ani oAAbudoo Allaha faitha hum fareeqani yakhtasimoona |
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 45: | We sent (aforetime), to the Thamud, their brother Salih, saying, "Serve Allah": But behold, they became two factions quarrelling with each other. |

| | Urdu 45: | اور ہم نے ثمود کی طرف ان کے بھائی صالح کو بھیجاکہ الله کی بندگی کرو پھر وہ دو فریق ہو کر آپس میں جھگڑنے لگے |

46 | قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ لِمَ تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ قَبْلَ الْحَسَنَةِ ۖ لَوْلَا تَسْتَغْفِرُونَ اللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ |

| | Transliteration 46: | Qala ya qawmi lima tastaAAjiloona bialssayyiati qabla alhasanati lawla tastaghfiroona Allaha laAAallakum turhamoona |
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 46: | He said: "O my people! why ask ye to hasten on the evil in preference to the good? If only ye ask Allah for forgiveness, ye may hope to receive mercy. |

| | Urdu 46: | کہا اے میری قوم بھلائی سے پہلے برائی کو کیوں جلدی مانگتے ہو الله سے گناہ کیوں نہیں بخشواتے تاکہ تم پر رحم کیا جائے |

47 | قَالُوا اطَّيَّرْنَا بِكَ وَبِمَن مَّعَكَ ۚ قَالَ طَائِرُكُمْ عِندَ اللَّهِ ۖ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ تُفْتَنُونَ |
| |
| | Transliteration 47: | Qaloo ittayyarna bika wabiman maAAaka qala tairukum AAinda Allahi bal antum qawmun tuftanoona |
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 47: | They said: "Ill omen do we augur from thee and those that are with thee". He said: "Your ill omen is with Allah; yea, ye are a people under trial." |

| | Urdu 47: | کہنے لگے ہمیں تو تجھ سے اور تیرے ساتھیوں سے نحوست معلوم ہوئی کہا تہاری نحوست الله کی طرف سے ہے بلکہ تم لوگ آزمائش میں ڈالے گئے ہو |

48 | وَكَانَ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ تِسْعَةُ رَهْطٍ يُفْسِدُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَ |
| |
| | Transliteration 48: | Wakana fee almadeenati tisAAatu rahtin yufsidoona fee alardi wala yuslihoona |
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 48: | There were in the city nine men of a family, who made mischief in the land, and would not reform. |
| |
| | Urdu 48: | اور اس شہر میں نو آدمی ایسے تھے جو زمین میں فساد کرتے تھے اوراصلاح نہیں کرتے تھے |
| |

| |
|
49 | قَالُوا تَقَاسَمُوا بِاللَّهِ لَنُبَيِّتَنَّهُ وَأَهْلَهُ ثُمَّ لَنَقُولَنَّ لِوَلِيِّهِ مَا شَهِدْنَا مَهْلِكَ أَهْلِهِ وَإِنَّا لَصَادِقُونَ |

| | Transliteration 49: | Qaloo taqasamoo biAllahi lanubayyitannahu waahlahu thumma lanaqoolanna liwaliyyihi ma shahidna mahlika ahlihi wainna lasadiqoona |
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 49: | They said: "Swear a mutual oath by Allah that we shall make a secret night attack on him and his people, and that we shall then say to his heir (when he seeks vengeance): 'We were not present at the slaughter of his people, and we are positively telling the truth.'" |
| |
| | Urdu 49: | کہنے لگے آپس میں الله کی قسم کھاؤ کہ صالح اور اس کے گھر والوں پر شبخوں ماریں پھر اس کے وارث سے کہہ دیں ہم تو اس کے کنبہ کی ہلاکت کے وقت موجود ہی نہ تھے اور بے شک ہم سچے ہیں |

50 | وَمَكَرُوا مَكْرًا وَمَكَرْنَا مَكْرًا وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ |
| |
| | Transliteration 50: | Wamakaroo makran wamakarna makran wahum la yashAAuroona |
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 50: | They plotted and planned, but We too planned, even while they perceived it not. |
| |
| | Urdu 50: | اور انہوں نے ایک داؤ کیا اور ہم نے بھی ایساداؤ کیا کہ انہیں خبربھی نہ ہوئی |

| |
|
51 | فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ مَكْرِهِمْ أَنَّا دَمَّرْنَاهُمْ وَقَوْمَهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ |
| |
| | Transliteration 51: | Faonthur kayfa kana AAaqibatu makrihim anna dammarnahum waqawmahum ajmaAAeena |
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 51: | Then see what was the end of their plot!- this, that We destroyed them and their people, all (of them). |
| |
| | Urdu 51: | پھر دیکھو ان کے داؤ کا کیا انجام ہوا کہ ہم نے انہیں اوران کی ساری قوم کو ہلاک کر دیا |

52 | فَتِلْكَ بُيُوتُهُمْ خَاوِيَةً بِمَا ظَلَمُوا ۗ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ |
| |
| | Transliteration 52: | Fatilka buyootuhum khawiyatan bima thalamoo inna fee thalika laayatan liqawmin yaAAlamoona |
| |
| | Yusuf Ali 52: | Now such were their houses, - in utter ruin, - because they practised wrong-doing. Verily in this is a Sign for people of knowledge. |
| |
| | Urdu 52: | سو یہ ان کے گھر ہیں جو ان کے ظلم کے سبب سے ویران پڑے ہیں بے شک اس میں دانشمندو ں کے لیے عبرت ہے |
