(2) We have sent thee inspiration, as We sent it to Noah and the Messengers after him: we sent inspiration to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes, to Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and solomon, and to david We gave the Psalms.

(3) Curses were pronounced on those among the Children of Israel who rejected Faith, by the tongue of david and of Jesus the son of Mary: because they disobeyed and persisted in excesses.

(4) We gave him Isaac and Jacob: all (three) guided: and before him, We guided Noah, and among his progeny, david, Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses, and Aaron: thus do We reward those who do good:

(5) And it is your Lord that knoweth best all beings that are in the heavens and on earth: We did bestow on some prophets more (and other) gifts than on others: and We gave to david (the gift of) the Psalms.

(6) And remember david and Solomon, when they gave judgment in the matter of the field into which the sheep of certain people had strayed by night: We did witness their judgment.

(7) To Solomon We inspired the (right) understanding of the matter: to each (of them) We gave Judgment and Knowledge; it was Our power that made the hills and the birds celebrate Our praises, with david: it was We Who did (all these things).

(8) We gave (in the past) knowledge to david and Solomon: And they both said: "Praise be to Allah, Who has favoured us above many of his servants who believe!"

(9) And Solomon was david's heir. He said: "O ye people! We have been taught the speech of birds, and on us has been bestowed (a little) of all things: this is indeed Grace manifest (from Allah.)"

(10) We bestowed Grace aforetime on david from ourselves: "O ye Mountains! Sing ye back the Praises of Allah with him! and ye birds (also)! And We made the iron soft for him;-
