(1) And those who were but followers will say: If a return were possible for us, we would disown them even as they have disowned us. Thus will Allah show them their own deeds as anguish for them, and they will not emerge from the Fire.

(2) O ye who believe! Be not as those who disbelieved and said of their brethren who went abroad in the land or were fighting in the field: If they had been (here) with us they would not have died or been killed: that Allah may make it anguish in their hearts. Allah giveth life and causeth death; and Allah is Seer of what ye do.

(3) Lo! those who disbelieve spend their wealth in order that they may debar (men) from the way of Allah. They will spend it, then it will become an anguish for them, then they will be conquered. And those who disbelieve will be gathered unto hell,

(4) He said: I expose my distress and anguish only unto Allah, and I know from Allah that which ye know not.

(5) And warn them of the Day of anguish when the case hath been decided. Now they are in a state of carelessness, and they believe not.

(6) Then we heard his prayer and saved him from the anguish. Thus we save believers.

(7) Whenever, in their anguish, they would go forth from thence they are driven back therein and (it is said unto them): Taste the doom of burning.

(8) And who say: Our Lord! Avert from us the doom of hell; lo! the doom thereof is anguish;

(9) Ah, the anguish for the bondmen! Never came there unto them a messenger but they did mock him!

(10) And lo! it is indeed an anguish for the disbelievers.
