(42) And when Our clear Verses are recited unto them, those who hope not for their meeting with Us, say: "bring us a Qur'an other than this, or change it." Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "It is not for me to change it on my own accord; I only follow that which is revealed unto me. Verily, I fear the torment of the Great Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) if I were to disobey my Lord."
(43) Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "Who provides for you from the sky and the earth? Or who owns hearing and sight? And who brings out the living from the dead and brings out the dead from the living? And who disposes the affairs?" They will say: "Allah." Say: "Will you not then be afraid of Allah's punishment (for setting up rivals in worship with Allah)?"
(44) Or do they say: "He (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) has forged it?" Say: "bring then a Surah (chapter) like unto it, and call upon whomsoever you can besides Allah, if you are truthful!"
(45) And Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "bring me every well-versed sorcerer."
(46) (Saying) worship none but Allah. Verily, I (Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) am unto you from Him a warner and a bringer of glad tidings.
(47) Or they say, "He (Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) forged it (the Qur'an)." Say: "bring you then ten forged Surahs (chapters) like unto it, and call whomsoever you can, other than Allah (to your help), if you speak the truth!"
(48) They said: "O Nuh (Noah)! You have disputed with us and much have you prolonged the dispute with us, now bring upon us what you threaten us with, if you are of the truthful."
(49) He said: "Only Allah will bring it (the punishment) on you, if He wills, and then you will escape not.
(50) And the king said: "bring him to me." But when the messenger came to him, [Yusuf (Joseph)] said: "Return to your lord and ask him, 'What happened to the women who cut their hands? Surely, my Lord (Allah) is Well-Aware of their plot.'"
