(292) o Dawood! surely We have made you a ruler in the land; so judge between men with justice and do not follow desire, lest it should lead you astray from the path of Allah; (as for) those who go astray from the path of Allah, they shall surely have a severe punishment because they forgot the day of reckoning.

(293) This is what you are promised for the day of reckoning.

(294) And surely My curse is on you to the day of judgment.

(295) He said: My Lord! then respite me to the day that they are raised.

(296) He has created the heavens and the earth with the truth; He makes the night cover the day and makes the day overtake the night, and He has made the sun and the moon subservient; each one runs on to an assigned term; now surely He is the Mighty, the great Forgiver.

(297) Say: I fear, if I disobey my Lord, the chastisement of a grievous day.

(298) Serve then what you like besides Him. Say: The losers surely are those who shall have lost themselves and their families on the day of resurrection; now surely that is the clear loss.

(299) Is he then who has to guard himself with his own person against the evil chastisement on the resurrection day? And it will be said to the unjust: Taste what you earned.

(300) Then surely on the day of resurrection you will contend one with another before. your Lord.
