(1) They desire to deceive Allah and those who believe, and they deceive only themselves and they do not perceive.

(2) This is because they say: The fire shall not touch us but for a few days; and what they have forged deceives them in the matter of their religion.

(3) Let it not deceive you that those who disbelieve go to and fro in the cities fearlessly.

(4) He gives them promises and excites vain desires in them; and the Shaitan does not promise them but to deceive.

(5) Surely the hypocrites strive to deceive Allah, and He shall requite their deceit to them, and when they stand up to prayer they stand up sluggishly; they do it only to be seen of men and do not remember Allah save a little.

(6) And leave those who have taken their religion for a play and an idle sport, and whom this world's life has deceived, and remind (them) thereby lest a soul should be given up to destruction for what it has earned; it shall not have besides Allah any guardian nor an intercessor, and if it should seek to give every compensation, it shall not be accepted from it; these are they who shall be given up to destruction for what they earned; they shall have a drink of boiling water and a painful chastisement because they disbelieved.

(7) And thus did We make for every prophet an enemy, the Shaitans from among men and jinn, some of them suggesting to others varnished falsehood to deceive (them), and had your Lord pleased they would not have done it, therefore leave them and that which they forge.

(8) O assembly of jinn and men! did there not come to you apostles from among you, relating to you My communications and warning you of the meeting of this day of yours? They shall say: We bear witness against ourselves; and this world's life deceived them, and they shall bear witness against their own souls that they were unbelievers.

(9) Who take their religion for an idle sport and a play and this life's world deceives them; so today We forsake them, as they neglected the meeting of this day of theirs and as they denied Our communications.

(10) He said: Cast. So when they cast, they deceived the people's eyes and frightened them, and they produced a mighty enchantment.
