(1) They ask you concerning the sacred month about fighting in it. Say: Fighting in it is a grave matter, and hindering (men) from Allah's way and denying Him, and (hindering men from) the Sacred Mosque and turning its people out of it, are still graver with Allah, and persecution is graver than slaughter; and they will not cease fighting with you until they turn you back from your religion, if they can; and whoever of you turns back from his religion, then he dies while an unbeliever-- these it is whose works shall go for nothing in this world and the hereafter, and they are the inmates of the fire; therein they shall abide.

(2) And never offer prayer for any one of them who dies and do not stand by his grave; surely they disbelieve in Allah and His Apostle and they shall die in transgression.

(3) And because the hour is coming, there is no doubt about it; and because Allah shall raise up those who are in the graves.

(4) Neither are the living and the dead alike. Surely Allah makes whom He pleases hear, and you cannot make those hear who are in the graves.

(5) And the trumpet shall be blown, when lo! from their graves they shall hasten on to their Lord.

(6) Their eyes cast down, going forth from their graves as if they were scattered locusts,

(7) The day on which they shall come forth from their graves in haste, as if they were hastening on to a goal,

(8) Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes),

(9) Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave,

(10) And when the graves are laid open,
