(1) Allah said: "I will send it down unto you: But if any of you after that resisteth faith, I will punish him with a penalty such as I have not inflicted on any one among all the peoples."

(2) And if We had inflicted on them a penalty before this, they would have said: "Our Lord! If only Thou hadst sent us a messenger, we should certainly have followed Thy Signs before we were humbled and put to shame."

(5) The (people) said: "for us, we augur an evil omen from you: if ye desist not, we will certainly stone you. And a grievous punishment indeed will be inflicted on you by us."

(6) And those who, when an oppressive wrong is inflicted on them, (are not cowed but) help and defend themselves.

(7) inflicted by Pharaoh, for he was arrogant (even) among inordinate transgressors.

(8) In the thought that some back-breaking calamity was about to be inflicted on them;
