(1) Allah disdains not to use the similitude of things, lowest as well as highest. Those who believe know that it is truth from their Lord; but those who reject Faith say: "What means Allah by this similitude?" By it He causes many to stray, and many He leads into the right path; but He causes not to stray, except those who forsake (the path),-

(2) If Allah helps you, none can overcome you: If He forsakes you, who is there, after that, that can help you? in Allah, then, Let believers put their trust.

(3) He who forsakes his home in the cause of Allah, finds in the earth Many a refuge, wide and spacious: Should he die as a refugee from home for Allah and His Messenger, His reward becomes due and sure with Allah: And Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

(4) But Lut had faith in Him: He said: "I will leave home for the sake of my Lord: for He is Exalted in Might, and Wise."

(5) Their limbs do forsake their beds of sleep, the while they call on their Lord, in Fear and Hope: and they spend (in charity) out of the sustenance which We have bestowed on them.

(6) And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?"

(7) "Will ye call upon Baal and forsake the Best of Creators,-

(8) They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people.

(9) (Saying),"We feed you for the sake of Allah alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks.

(10) Thy Guardian-Lord hath not forsaken thee, nor is He displeased.
