(11) "O two companions of the prison! Are many different lords (gods) better or Allah, the One, the Irresistible?

(12) And Allah said (O mankind!): "Take not ilahain (two gods in worship). Verily, He (Allah) is (the) only One Ilah (God). Then, fear Me (Allah جل جلاله) much [and Me (Alone), i.e. be away from all kinds of sins and evil deeds that Allah has forbidden and do all that Allah has ordained and worship none but Allah] .

(13) Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم to these polytheists, pagans): "If there had been other alihah (gods) along with Him as they assert, then they would certainly have sought out a way to the Lord of the Throne (seeking His Pleasures and to be near to Him).

(14) Glorified and Exalted be He! High above (the great falsehood) that they say! (i.e. forged statements that there are other gods along with Allah, but He is Allah, the One, the Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need. He begets not, nor was He begotten, and there is none comparable or coequal unto Him).

(15) Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم): "Call upon those - besides Him - whom you pretend [to be gods like angels, 'Îsa (Jesus), 'Uzair (Ezra), and others.]. They have neither the power to remove the adversity from you nor even to shift it from you to another person."

(16) "These our people have taken for worship alihah (gods) other than Him (Allah). Why do they not bring for them a clear authority? And who does more wrong than he who invents a lie against Allah.

(17) Do then those who disbelieved think that they can take My slaves [i.e., the angels, Allah's Messengers, 'Îsa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)] as Auliya' (lords, gods, protectors) besides Me? Verily, We have prepared Hell as an entertainment for the disbelievers (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism) .

(18) He (the father) said: "Do you reject my gods, O Ibrahim (Abraham)? If you stop not (this), I will indeed stone you. So get away from me safely (before I punish you)."

(19) And they have taken (for worship) alihah (gods) besides Allah, that they might give them honour, power and glory (and also protect them from Allah's punishment).

(20) Nay, but they (the so-called gods) will deny their worship of them, and become opponents to them (on the Day of Resurrection).
