And David guessed that We had tried him, and he sought forgiveness of his Lord, and he bowed himself and fell down prostrate and repented.

(246) So We forgave him that; and lo! he had access to Our presence and a happy journey's end.

(247) I had no knowledge of the Highest Chiefs when they disputed;

(248) If Allah had willed to choose a son, He could have chosen what He would of that which He hath created. Be He Glorified! He is Allah, the One, the Absolute.

(249) Those before them said it, yet (all) that they had earned availed them not;

(250) Or should say: If Allah had but guided me I should have been among the dutiful!
