(21) So you did not slay them, but it was Allah Who slew them, and you did not smite when you smote (the enemy), but it was Allah Who smote, and that He might confer upon the believers a good gift from Himself; surely Allah is hearing, Knowing.

(22) When you were on the nearer side (of the valley) and they were on the farthest side, while the caravan was in a lower place than you; and if you had mutually made an appointment, you would certainly have broken away from the appointment, but-- in order that Allah might bring about a matter which was to be done, that he who would perish might perish by clear proof, and he who would live might live by clear proof; and most surely Allah is hearing, Knowing;

(23) This is because Allah has never changed a favor which He has conferred upon a people until they change their own condition; and because Allah is hearing, Knowing;

(24) And if they incline to peace, then incline to it and trust in Allah; surely He is the hearing, the Knowing.

(25) And of the dwellers of the desert are those who take what they spend to be a fine, and they wait (the befalling of) calamities to you; on them (will be) the evil calamity; and Allah is hearing, Knowing.

(26) Take alms out of their property, you would cleanse them and purify them thereby, and pray for them; surely your prayer is a relief to them; and Allah is hearing, Knowing.

(27) Say: Who gives you sustenance from the heaven and the earth? Or Who controls the hearing and the sight? And Who brings forth the living from the dead, and brings forth the dead from the living? And Who regulates the affairs? Then they will say: Allah. Say then: Will you not then guard (against evil)?

(28) And let not their speech grieve you; surely might is wholly Allah's; He is the hearing, the Knowing.

(29) The likeness of the two parties is as the blind and the deaf and the seeing and the hearing: are they equal in condition? Will you not then mind?

(30) Thereupon his Lord accepted his prayer and turned away their guile from him; surely He is the hearing, the Knowing.
