(233) And he entered the city at a time of carelessness of its folk, and he found therein two men fighting, one of his own caste, and the other of his enemies; and he who was of his caste asked him for help against him who was of his enemies. So Moses struck him with his fist and killed him. He said: this is of the devil's doing. Lo! he is an enemy, a mere misleader.

(234) But when Moses came unto them with Our clear tokens, they said: this is naught but invented magic. We never heard of this among our fathers of old.

(235) And We made a curse to follow them in this world, and on the Day of Resurrection they will be among the hateful.

(236) Lo! We are about to bring down upon the folk of this township a fury from the sky because they are evil-livers.

(237) this life of the world is but a pastime and a game. Lo! the home of the Hereafter - that is Life, if they but knew.

(238) And of His signs is this: He created you of dust, and behold you human beings, ranging widely!

(239) And of His signs is this: He created for you helpmeets from yourselves that ye might find rest in them, and He ordained between you love and mercy. Lo! herein indeed are portents for folk who reflect.

(240) And of His signs is this: He showeth you the lightning for a fear and for a hope, and sendeth down water from the sky, and thereby quickeneth the earth after her death. Lo! herein indeed are portents for folk who understand.
