(1161) And they say: we believe in Allah and in the apostle and we obey; then a party of them turn back after this, and these are not believers.

(1162) And when they are called to Allah and His Apostle that he may judge between them, lo! a party of them turn aside.

(1163) The response of the believers, when they are invited to Allah and His Apostle that he may judge between them, is only to say: we hear and we obey; and these it is that are the successful.

(1164) And they swear by Allah with the most energetic of their oaths that if you command them they would certainly go forth. Say: Swear not; reasonable obedience (is desired); surely Allah is aware of what you do.

(1165) But they reject the hour, and we have prepared a burning fire for him who rejects the hour.

(1166) They shall say: Glory be to Thee; it was not beseeming for us that we should take any guardians besides Thee, but Thou didst make them and their fathers to enjoy until they forsook the reminder, and they were a people in perdition,

(1167) So they shall indeed give you the lie in what you say, then you shall not be able to ward off or help, and whoever among you is unjust, we will make him taste a great chastisement.

(1168) And we have not sent before you any apostles but they most surely ate food and went about in the markets; and we have made some of you a trial for others; will you bear patiently? And your Lord is ever Seeing.

(1169) And those who do not hope for Our meeting, say: Why have not angels been sent down upon us, or (why) do we not see our Lord? Now certainly they are too proud of themselves and have revolted in great revolt.

(1170) And we will proceed to what they have done of deeds, so we shall render them as scattered floating dust.
