They said: You are nothing but mortals like us; you wish to turn us away from what our fathers used to worship; bring us therefore some clear authority.

(233) Hell is before him and he shall be given to drink of festering water:

(234) Say to My servants who believe that they should keep up prayer and spend out of what We have given them secretly and openly before the coming of the day in which there shall be no bartering nor mutual befriending.

(235) And He gives you of all that you ask Him; and if you count Allah's favors, you will not be able to number them; most surely man is very unjust, very ungrateful.

(236) Praise be to Allah, Who has given me in old age Ismail and Ishaq; most surely my Lord is the Hearer of prayer:

(237) And We send the winds fertilizing, then send down water from the cloud so We give it to you to drink of, nor is it you who store it up.

(238) And certainly We created man of clay that gives forth sound, of black mud fashioned in shape.

(239) They said: Be not afraid, surely we give you the good news of a boy, possessing knowledge.

(240) He said: Do you give me good news (of a son) when old age has come upon me?-- Of what then do you give me good news!
