(223) Our Lord! Lo! I have settled some of my posterity in an uncultivable valley near unto Thy holy House, our Lord! that they may establish proper worship; so incline some hearts of men that they may yearn toward them, and provide Thou them with fruits in order that they may be thankful.

(224) And they say: O thou unto whom the Reminder is revealed, lo! thou art indeed a madman!

(225) Toil cometh not unto them there, nor will they be expelled from thence.

(226) And that which they were wont to count as gain availed them not.

(227) And Allah's is the direction of the way, and some (roads) go not straight. And had He willed He would have led you all aright.

(228) And when it is said unto them: What hath your Lord revealed? they say: (Mere) fables of the men of old,

(229) That they may bear their burdens undiminished on the Day of Resurrection, with somewhat of the burdens of those whom they mislead without knowledge. Ah! evil is that which they bear!

(230) Then on the Day of Resurrection He will disgrace them and will say: Where are My partners, for whose sake ye opposed (My guidance)? Those who have been given knowledge will say: Disgrace this day and evil are upon the disbelievers,
