(53) And when We said unto the angels: Fall down prostrate before Adam and they fell prostrate all save Iblis, he said: Shall I fall prostrate before that which Thou hast created of clay?

(54) Or thou cause the heaven to fall upon us piecemeal, as thou hast pretended, or bring Allah and the angels as a warrant;

(55) Say: If there were in the earth angels walking secure, We had sent down for them from heaven an angel as messenger.

(56) And (remember) when We said unto the angels: Fall prostrate before Adam, and they fell prostrate, all save Iblis. He was of the jinn, so he rebelled against his Lord's command. Will ye choose him and his seed for your protecting friends instead of Me, when they are an enemy unto you? Calamitous is the exchange for evil-doers.

(57) We (angels) come not down save by commandment of thy Lord. Unto Him belongeth all that is before us and all that is behind us and all that is between those two, and thy Lord was never forgetful -

(58) And when We said unto the angels: Fall prostrate before Adam, they fell prostrate (all) save Iblis; he refused.

(59) The Supreme Horror will not grieve them, and the angels will welcome them, (saying): This is your Day which ye were promised;

(60) Allah chooseth from the angels messengers, and (also) from mankind. Lo! Allah is Hearer, Seer.
