(2191) Have they not travelled in the land and seen the nature of the consequence for those who were before them, and they were mightier than these in power? Allah is not such that aught in the heavens or in the earth escapeth Him. Lo! He is the Wise, the Mighty.

(2192) If Allah took mankind to task by that which they deserve, He would not leave a living creature on the surface of the earth; but He reprieveth them unto an appointed term, and when their term cometh - then verily (they will know that) Allah is ever Seer of His slaves.

(2193) Lo! thou art of those sent

(2194) A revelation of the Mighty, the Merciful,

(2195) Already hath the judgment, (for their infidelity) proved true of most of them, for they believe not.

(2196) Thou warnest only him who followeth the Reminder and feareth the Beneficent in secret. To him bear tidings of forgiveness and a rich reward.

(2197) Coin for them a similitude: The people of the city when those sent (from Allah) came unto them;

(2198) And our duty is but plain conveyance (of the message).

(2199) (The people of the city) said: We augur ill of you. If ye desist not, we shall surely stone you, and grievous torture will befall you at our hands.

(2200) They said: Your evil augury be with you! Is it because ye are reminded (of the truth)? Nay, but ye are froward folk!
