(972) Lo! we, even we are they who set the ranks,

(973) Lo! we, even we are they who hymn His praise

(974) So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) awhile,

(975) Withdraw from them awhile

(976) And praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds!

(977) How many a generation We destroyed before them, and they cried out when it was no longer the time for escape!

(978) The folk of Noah before them denied (their messenger) and (so did the tribe of) A'ad, and Pharaoh firmly planted,

(979) Lo! We subdued the hills to hymn the praises (of their Lord) with him at nightfall and sunrise,

(980) How they burst in upon David, and he was afraid of them. They said: Be not afraid! (We are) two litigants, one of whom hath wronged the other, therefor judge aright between us; be not unjust; and show us the fair way.
