(41) Such (being their state), we raised them up (from sleep), that they might question each other. Said one of them, "How long have ye stayed (here)?" Now send ye then one of you with this money of yours to the town: let him find out which is the best food (to be had) and bring some to you, that (ye may) satisfy your hunger therewith: And let him behave with care and courtesy, and let him not inform any one about you.

(42) He replied: "Sawest thou (what happened) when we betook ourselves to the rock? I did indeed forget (about) the Fish: none but satan made me forget to tell (you) about it: it took its course through the sea in a marvellous way!"

(43) "O my father! serve not satan: for satan is a rebel against (Allah) Most Gracious.

(44) "O my father! I fear lest a Penalty afflict thee from (Allah) Most Gracious, so that thou become to satan a friend."

(45) But satan whispered evil to him: he said, "O Adam! shall I lead thee to the Tree of Eternity and to a kingdom that never decays?"

(46) Never did We send a messenger or a prophet before thee, but, when he framed a desire, satan threw some (vanity) into his desire: but Allah will cancel anything (vain) that satan throws in, and Allah will confirm (and establish) His Signs: for Allah is full of Knowledge and Wisdom:

(47) That He may make the suggestions thrown in by satan, but a trial for those in whose hearts is a disease and who are hardened of heart: verily the wrong-doers are in a schism far (from the Truth):

(48) O ye who believe! follow not satan's footsteps: if any will follow the footsteps of satan, he will (but) command what is shameful and wrong: and were it not for the grace and mercy of Allah on you, not one of you would ever have been pure: but Allah doth purify whom He pleases: and Allah is One Who hears and knows (all things).

(49) "I found her and her people worshipping the sun besides Allah: satan has made their deeds seem pleasing in their eyes, and has kept them away from the Path,- so they receive no guidance,-

(50) And he entered the city at a time when its people were not watching: and he found there two men fighting,- one of his own religion, and the other, of his foes. Now the man of his own religion appealed to him against his foe, and Moses struck him with his fist and made an end of him. He said: "This is a work of Evil (satan): for he is an enemy that manifestly misleads!"
