(61) Mischief has appeared on land and sea because of (the meed) that the hands of men have earned, that (Allah) may give them a taste of some of their deeds: in order that they may turn back (from Evil).

(62) O mankind! do your duty to your Lord, and fear (the coming of) a Day when no father can avail aught for his son, nor a son avail aught for his father. Verily, the promise of Allah is true: let not then this present life deceive you, nor let the chief Deceiver deceive you about Allah.

(63) And they would say: "Our Lord! We obeyed our chiefs and our great ones, and they misled us as to the (right) Path.

(64) O men! Certainly the promise of Allah is true. Let not then this present life deceive you, nor let the chief Deceiver deceive you about Allah.

(65) Shall We treat those who believe and work deeds of righteousness, the same as those who do mischief on earth? Shall We treat those who guard against evil, the same as those who turn aside from the right?

(66) "No knowledge have I of the chiefs on high, when they discuss (matters) among themselves.

(67) Said Pharaoh: "Leave me to slay Moses; and let him call on his Lord! What I fear is lest he should change your religion, or lest he should cause mischief to appear in the land!"

(68) Also, they say: "Why is not this Qur'an sent down to some leading man in either of the two (chief) cities?"

(69) We did send Moses aforetime, with Our Signs, to Pharaoh and his chiefs: He said, "I am a messenger of the Lord of the Worlds."

(70) Then, is it to be expected of you, if ye were put in authority, that ye will do mischief in the land, and break your ties of kith and kin?
