(231) And they have no knowledge of it; they do not follow anything but conjecture, and surely conjecture does not avail against the truth at all.

(232) That is their goal of knowledge; surely your Lord knows best him who goes astray from His path and He knows best him who follows the right direction.

(233) And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term.

(234) So they said: What! a single mortal from among us! Shall we follow him? Most surely we shall in that case be in sure error and distress:

(238) So that the followers of the Book may know that they do not control aught of the grace of Allah, and that grace is in Allah's hand, He gives it to whom He pleases; and Allah is the Lord of mighty grace.

(239) He it is Who caused those who disbelieved of the followers of the Book to go forth from their homes at the first banishment you did not think that they would go forth, while they were certain that their fortresses would defend them against Allah; but Allah came to them whence they did not expect, and cast terror into their hearts; they demolished their houses with their own hands and the hands of the believers; therefore take a lesson, O you who have eyes!

(240) Have you not seen those who have become hypocrites? They say to those of their brethren who disbelieve from among the followers of the Book: If you are driven forth, we shall certainly go forth with you, and we will never obey any one concerning you, and if you are fought against, we will certainly help you, and Allah bears witness that they are most surely liars.
