(33) There does not reach Allah their flesh nor their blood, but to Him is acceptable the guarding (against evil) on your part; thus has He made them subservient to you, that you may magnify Allah because He has guided you aright; and give good news to those who do good (to others).

(34) And they swore by Allah with the strongest of their oaths that if there came to them a warner they would be better guided than any of the nations; but when there came to them a warner it increased them in naught but aversion.

(35) And We guided them both on the right way.

(36) Those who listen to the word, then follow the best of it; those are they whom Allah has guided, and those it is who are the men of understanding.

(37) Or it should say: Had Allah guided me, I would certainly have been of those who guard (against evil);

(38) Nay! they say: We found our fathers on a course, and surely we are guided by their footsteps.

(39) And most surely they turn them away from the path, and they think that they are guided aright:

(40) What! is he who goes prone upon his face better guided or he who walks upright upon a straight path?
