(21) If only there had been among the generations before you men possessing a remnant (of good sense) to warn (their people) from corruption in the earth, as did a few of those whom We saved from them! The wrong-doers followed that by which they were made sapless, and were guilty.

(22) Till, when the messengers despaired and thought that they were denied, then came unto them Our help, and whom We would was saved. And Our wrath cannot be warded from the guilty.

(23) Thou wilt see the guilty on that day linked together in chains,

(24) Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty:

(25) They said: We have been sent unto a guilty folk,

(26) And the Book is placed, and thou seest the guilty fearful of that which is therein, and they say: What kind of a Book is this that leaveth not a small thing nor a great thing but hath counted it! And they find all that they did confronting them, and thy Lord wrongeth no-one.

(27) And the guilty behold the Fire and know that they are about to fall therein, and they find no way of escape thence.

(28) And drive the guilty unto hell, a weary herd,

(29) Lo! whoso cometh guilty unto his Lord, verily for him is hell. There he will neither die nor live.

(30) The day when the Trumpet is blown. On that day we assemble the guilty white-eyed (with terror),
