(71) He said: "I am indeed a servant of Allah: He hath given me revelation and made me a prophet;

(72) A revelation from Him Who created the earth and the heavens on high.

(73) Thus do We relate to thee some stories of what happened before: for We have sent thee a Message from Our own Presence.

(74) High above all is Allah, the King, the Truth! Be not in haste with the Qur'an before its revelation to thee is completed, but say, "O my Lord! advance me in knowledge."

(75) They say: "Why does he not bring us a sign from his Lord?" Has not a Clear Sign come to them of all that was in the former Books of revelation?

(76) (As to those) before them, not one of the populations which We destroyed believed: will these believe?

(77) How many were the populations We utterly destroyed because of their iniquities, setting up in their places other peoples?

(78) Say, "I do but warn you according to revelation": But the deaf will not hear the call, (even) when they are warned!

(79) So We listened to him: and We granted him Yahya: We cured his wife's (Barrenness) for him. These (three) were ever quick in emulation in good works; they used to call on Us with love and reverence, and humble themselves before Us.

(80) But (later generations) cut off their affair (of unity), one from another: (yet) will they all return to Us.
