(51) Naught is said to you but what was said indeed to the apostles before you; surely your Lord is the Lord of forgiveness and the Lord of painful retribution.
(52) Or have they associates who have prescribed for them any religion that Allah does not sanction? And were it not for the word of judgment, decision would have certainly been given between them; and surely the unjust shall have a painful punishment.
(53) The way (to blame) is only against those who oppress men and revolt in the earth unjustly; these shall have a painful punishment.
(54) But parties from among them differed, so woe to those who were unjust because of the chastisement of a painful day.
(55) That shall overtake men; this is a painful punishment.
(56) Who hears the communications of Allah recited to him, then persists proudly as though he had not heard them; so announce to him a painful punishment.
(57) This is guidance; and (as for) those who disbelieve in the communications of their Lord, they shall have a painful punishment on account of uncleanness.
(58) So when they saw it as a cloud appearing in the sky advancing towards their valleys, they said: This is a cloud which will give us rain. Nay! it is what you sought to hasten on, a blast of wind in which is a painful punishment,
(59) O our people! accept the Divine caller and believe in Him, He will forgive you of your faults and protect you from a painful punishment.
(60) Say to those of the dwellers of the desert who were left behind: You shall soon be invited (to fight) against a people possessing mighty prowess; you will fight against them until they submit; then if you obey, Allah will grant you a good reward; and if you turn back as you turned back before, He will punish you with a painful punishment.
