(981) So when they have reached their prescribed time, then retain them with kindness or separate them with kindness, and call to witness two men of justice from among you, and give upright testimony for Allah. With that is admonished he who believes in Allah and the latter day; and whoever is careful of (his duty to) Allah, He will make for him an outlet,

(982) Lodge them where you lodge according to your means, and do not injure them in order that you may straiten them; and if they are pregnant, spend on them until they lay down their burden; then if they suckle for you, give them their recompense and enjoin one another among you to do good; and if you disagree, another (woman) shall suckle for him.

(983) If you both turn to Allah, then indeed your hearts are already inclined (to this); and if you back up each other against him, then surely Allah it is Who is his Guardian, and Jibreel and -the believers that do good, and the angels after that are the aiders.

(984) Who created the seven heavens one above another; you see no incongruity in the creation of the Beneficent Allah; then look again, can you see any disorder?

(985) then turn back the eye again and again; your look shall come back to you confused while it is fatigued.

(986) Are you secure of those in the heaven that He should not make the earth to swallow you up? then lo! it shall be in a state of commotion.

(987) Or are you secure of those in the heaven that He should not send down upon you a punishment? then shall you know how was My warning.

(988) And certainly those before them rejected (the truth), then how was My disapproval.

(989) Say: Have you considered if your water should go down, who is it then that will bring you flowing water?

(990) then there encompassed it a visitation from your Lord while they were sleeping.
