So far (is this the case) that, when terror is removed from their hearts (at the Day of Judgment, then) will they say, 'what is it that your Lord commanded?' they will say, 'That which is true and just; and He is the Most High Most Great'."

(55) And they will say, "We do believe (now) in the (Truth)"; but how could they receive (Faith) from a position (so far off,-

(56) Seeing that they did reject Faith (entirely) before, and that they (continually) cast (slanders) on the unseen from a position far off?

(57) Then there came running, from the farthest part of the City, a man, saying, "O my people! Obey the messengers:

(58) And watch them (how they fare), and they soon shall see (how thou farest)!

(59) And watch (how they fare) and they soon shall see (how thou farest)!

(60) "The ways and means of (reaching) the heavens, and that I may mount up to the god of Moses: But as far as I am concerned, I think (Moses) is a liar!" Thus was made alluring, in Pharaoh's eyes, the evil of his deeds, and he was hindered from the Path; and the plot of Pharaoh led to nothing but perdition (for him).
