(82) What! is he whose heart Allah has opened for Islam so that he is in a light from his Lord (like the hard-hearted)? nay, woe to those whose hearts are hard against the remembrance of Allah; those are in clear error.

(83) Allah sets forth an example: There is a slave in whom are (several) partners differing with one another, and there is another slave wholly owned by one man. Are the two alike in condition? (All) praise is due to Allah. nay! most of them do not know.

(84) So when harm afflicts a man he calls upon Us; then, when We give him a favor from Us, he says: I have been given it only by means of knowledge. nay, it is a trial, but most of them do not know.

(85) nay! but serve Allah alone and be of the thankful.

(86) Besides Allah? They shall say: They are gone away from us, nay, we used not to call upon anything before. Thus does Allah confound the unbelievers.

(87) nay! they say: We found our fathers on a course, and surely we are guided by their footsteps.

(88) nay! I gave them and their fathers to enjoy until there came to them the truth and an Apostle making manifest (the truth).

(89) nay! I am better than this fellow, who is contemptible, and who can hardly speak distinctly:

(90) And they say: Are our gods better, or is he? They do not set it forth to you save by way of disputation; nay, they are a contentious people.
