(227) "Go you with this letter of mine, and deliver it to them, then draw back from them, and see what (answer) they return."

(228) "But verily! I am going to send him a present, and see with what (answer) the messengers return."

(229) Verily, you cannot make the dead to hear nor can you make the deaf to hear the call (i.e. benefit them and similarly the disbelievers), when they flee, turning their backs.

(230) So he watered (their flocks) for them, then he turned back to shade, and said: "My Lord! truly, I am in need of whatever good that You bestow on me!"
