(1) And by the Mercy of Allah, you dealt with them gently. Then when you have taken a decision, put your trust in Allah, certainly, Allah loves those who put their trust (in Him).

(2) And We have broken them (i.e. the Jews) up into various separate groups on the earth: some of them are righteous and some are away from that. And We tried them with good (blessings) and evil (calamities) in order that they might turn (to Allah's Obedience).

(3) And put forward to them the example of the life of this world: it is like the water (rain) which We send down from the sky, and the vegetation of the earth mingles with it, and becomes fresh and green. But (later) it becomes dry and broken pieces, which the winds scatter. And Allah is Able to do everything.

(4) But they have broken up and differed as regards their religion among themselves. (And) they all shall return to Us.

(5) But they (men) have broken their religion among them into sects, each group rejoicing in what is with it (as its beliefs).

(6) See you not that Allah sends down water (rain) from the sky, and causes it to penetrate the earth, (and then makes it to spring up) as water-springs, and afterward thereby produces crops of different colours, and afterward they wither and you see them turn yellow; then He makes them dry and broken pieces. Verily, in this is a Reminder for men of understanding.

(7) It spared nothing that it reached, but blew it into broken spreads of rotten ruins.
