(304) So the (garden) became, by the morning, like a dark and desolate spot, (whose fruit had been gathered).

(305) Their eyes will be cast down,- ignominy will cover them; seeing that they had been summoned aforetime to bow in adoration, while they were whole, (and had refused).

(306) had not Grace from his Lord reached him, he would indeed have been cast off on the naked shore, in disgrace.

(307) He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down!

(308) And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me!

(309) "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)!

(310) "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me!
