(162) Yet they choose beside Him other gods who create naught but are themselves created, and possess not hurt nor profit for themselves, and possess not death nor life, nor power to raise the dead.

(163) Thus they will give you the lie regarding what ye say, then ye can neither avert (the doom) nor obtain help. And whoso among you doeth wrong, We shall make him taste great torment.

(164) Yet they worship instead of Allah that which can neither benefit them nor hurt them. The disbeliever was ever a partisan against his Lord.

(165) And those who, when they spend, are neither prodigal nor grudging; and there is ever a firm station between the two;

(166) And those who cry not unto any other god along with Allah, nor take the life which Allah hath forbidden save in (course of) justice, nor commit adultery - and whoso doeth this shall pay the penalty;

(167) nor any loving friend.

(168) It is not meet for them, nor is it in their power,

(169) And grieve thou not for them, nor be in distress because of what they plot (against thee).

(170) Lo! thou canst not make the dead to hear, nor canst thou make the deaf to hear the call when they have turned to flee;
