(23) And had there not been a word (that had) already gone forth from your Lord and an appointed term, it would surely have been made to cleave (to them).

(24) Surely (as for) those for whom the good has already gone forth from Us, they shall be kept far off from it;

(25) And if they reject you, then already before you did the people of Nuh and Ad and Samood reject (prophets).

(26) And already We overtook them with chastisement, but they were not submissive to their Lord, nor do they humble themselves.

(27) And when We make people taste of mercy they rejoice in it, and if an evil befall them for what their hands have already wrought, lo! they are in despair.

(28) And certainly Our word has already gone forth in respect of Our servants, the apostles:

(29) And certainly We gave the Book to Musa, but it has been differed about, and had not a word already gone forth from your Lord, judgment would certainly have been given between them; and most surely they are in a disquieting doubt about it.

(30) But if they turn aside, We have not sent you as a watcher over them; on you is only to deliver (the message); and surely when We make man taste mercy from Us, he rejoices thereat; and if an evil afflicts them on account of what their hands have already done, then-surely man is ungrateful.
