(1) And among men is he whose speech about the life of this world causes you to wonder, and he calls on Allah to witness as to what is in his heart, yet he is the most violent of adversaries.

(2) Kind speech and forgiveness is better than charity followed by injury; and Allah is Self-sufficient, Forbearing.

(3) Allah does not love the public utterance of hurtful speech unless (it be) by one to whom injustice has been done; and Allah is Hearing, Knowing.

(4) And let not their speech grieve you; surely might is wholly Allah's; He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

(5) They do not precede Him in speech and (only) according to His commandment do they act.

(6) O wives of the Prophet! you are not like any other of the women; If you will be on your guard, then be not soft in (your) speech, lest he in whose heart is a disease yearn; and speak a good word.

(7) Therefore let not their speech grieve you; surely We know what they do in secret and what they do openly.

(8) What! that which is made in ornaments and which in contention is unable to make plain speech!

(9) And if We please We would have made you know them so that you would certainly have recognized them by their marks and most certainly you can recognize them by the intent of (their) speech; and Allah knows your deeds.

(10) And when you see them, their persons will please you, and If they speak, you will listen to their speech; (they are) as if they were big pieces of wood clad with garments; they think every cry to be against them. They are the enemy, therefore beware of them; may Allah destroy them, whence are they turned back?
