(81) And question thou our messengers whom We sent before thee; did We appoint any deities other than (Allah) Most Gracious, to be worshipped?
(82) So leave them to babble and play (with vanities) until they meet that Day of theirs, which they have been promised.
(83) And We had firmly established them in a (prosperity and) power which We have not given to you (ye Quraish!) and We had endowed them with (faculties of) hearing, seeing, heart and intellect: but of no profit to them were their (faculties of) hearing, sight, and heart and intellect, when they went on rejecting the Signs of Allah; and they were (completely) encircled by that which they used to mock at!
(84) This because those who reject Allah follow vanities, while those who believe follow the Truth from their Lord: Thus does Allah set forth for men their lessons by similitudes.
(85) And how many cities, with more power than thy city which has driven thee out, have We destroyed (for their sins)? and there was none to aid them.
(86) Then, is it to be expected of you, if ye were put in authority, that ye will do mischief in the land, and break your ties of kith and kin?
(87) If two parties among the Believers fall into a quarrel, make ye peace between them: but if one of them transgresses beyond bounds against the other, then fight ye (all) against the one that transgresses until it complies with the command of Allah; but if it complies, then make peace between them with justice, and be fair: for Allah loves those who are fair (and just).
(88) Is it that their faculties of understanding urge them to this, or are they but a people transgressing beyond bounds?
(89) And He destroyed the Overthrown Cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah).
(90) Wasting your time in vanities?
