At length We made them as a tale (that is told), and We dispersed them all in scattered fragments. Verily in this are Signs for every (soul that is) patiently constant and grateful.

(13) "We never heard (the like) of this among the people of these latter days: this is nothing but a made-up tale!"

(14) But (there is one) who says to his parents, "Fie on you! Do ye hold out the promise to me that I shall be raised up, even though generations have passed before me (without rising again)?" And they two seek Allah's aid, (and rebuke the son): "Woe to thee! Have faith! for the promise of Allah is true." But he says, "This is nothing but tales of the ancients!"

(15) When to him are rehearsed Our Signs, "tales of the ancients", he cries!

(16) That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance.

(17) When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "tales of the ancients!"
