(43) As to those who have rejected (Allah), and would keep back (men) from the Way of Allah, and from the Sacred Mosque, which We have made (open) to (all) men - equal is the dweller there and the visitor from the country - and any whose purpose therein is profanity or wrong-doing - them will We cause to taste of a most Grievous Penalty.

(44) And that those on whom knowledge has been bestowed may learn that the (Qur'an) is the Truth from thy Lord, and that they may believe therein, and their hearts may be made humbly (open) to it: for verily Allah is the Guide of those who believe, to the Straight Way.

(45) Until We open on them a gate leading to a severe Punishment: then Lo! they will be plunged in despair therein!

(46) He knows what is hidden and what is open: too high is He for the partners they attribute to Him!

(47) "Judge Thou, then, between me and them openly, and deliver me and those of the Believers who are with me."

(48) But when Our Signs came to them, that should have opened their eyes, they said: "This is sorcery manifest!"

(49) It will be said (to them): "Call upon your 'partners' (for help)": they will call upon them, but they will not listen to them; and they will see the Penalty (before them); (how they will wish) 'if only they had been open to guidance!'

(50) Such is He, the Knower of all things, hidden and open, the Exalted (in power), the Merciful;-
