(42) And as for Thamud, We showed and made clear to them the Path of Truth (Islamic Monotheism) through Our Messenger, (i.e. showed them the way of success), but they preferred blindness to guidance; so the Sa'iqah (a destructive awful cry, torment, hit, a thunderbolt) of disgracing torment seized them because of what they used to earn.

(43) And not an Ayah (sign, etc.) We showed them but it was greater than its fellow , and We seized them with torment, in order that they might turn [from their polytheism to Allah's religion (Islamic Monotheism)].

(44) On the Day when We shall seize you with the greatest seizure (punishment). Verily, We will exact retribution.

(45) (It will be said) "seize him and drag him into the midst of blazing Fire,

(46) And verily, an abiding torment seized them early in the morning.

(47) (They) belied all Our Signs, so We seized them with a Seizure of the All-Mighty, All-Capable (Omnipotent).

(48) The Mujrimun (polytheists, criminals, sinners) will be known by their marks (black faces), and they will be seized by their forelocks and their feet.

(49) And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He seized them with a strong punishment.

(50) (It will be said): "seize him and fetter him;
