(83) O ye that believe! Fear Allah, and believe in His Messenger, and He will bestow on you a double portion of His Mercy: He will provide for you a Light by which ye shall walk (straight in your path), and He will forgive you (your past): for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

(84) They have made their oaths a screen (for their misdeeds): thus they obstruct (men) from the path of Allah: therefore shall they have a humiliating Penalty.

(85) O ye who believe! Take not my enemies and yours as friends (or protectors),- offering them (your) love, even though they have rejected the Truth that has come to you, and have (on the contrary) driven out the Prophet and yourselves (from your homes), (simply) because ye believe in Allah your Lord! If ye have come out to strive in My Way and to seek My Good Pleasure, (take them not as friends), holding secret converse of love (and friendship) with them: for I know full well all that ye conceal and all that ye reveal. And any of you that does this has strayed from the Straight path.

(86) They have made their oaths a screen (for their misdeeds): thus they obstruct (men) from the path of Allah: truly evil are their deeds.

(87) Such of your women as have passed the age of monthly courses, for them the prescribed period, if ye have any doubts, is three months, and for those who have no courses (it is the same): for those who carry (life within their wombs), their period is until they deliver their burdens: and for those who fear Allah, He will make their path easy.

(88) Verily it is thy Lord that knoweth best, which (among men) hath strayed from His path: and He knoweth best those who receive (true) Guidance.

(89) He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down!

(90) 'There are among us some that are righteous, and some the contrary: we follow divergent paths.
