(141) Know that Allah gives life to the earth after its death; indeed, We have made the communications clear to you that you may understand.

(142) Know that this world's life is only sport and play and gaiety and boasting among yourselves, and a vying in the multiplication of wealth and children, like the rain, whose causing the vegetation to grow, pleases the husbandmen, then it withers away so that you will see it become yellow, then it becomes dried up and broken down; and in the hereafter is a severe chastisement and (also) forgiveness from Allah and (His) pleasure; and this world's life is naught but means of deception.

(143) Who created death and life that He may try you-- which of you is best in deeds; and He is the Mighty, the Forgiving,

(144) So he shall be in a life of pleasure,

(145) Nay! But you love the present life,

(146) Is not He able to give life to the dead?

(147) Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing.

(148) So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life.

(149) And prefers the life of this world,

(150) Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again.
