(31) And they became divided only after Knowledge reached them,- through selfish envy as between themselves. (32) The Way of Allah, to Whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on earth. Behold (how) all affairs tend towards Allah!

(33) The Believers are but a single Brotherhood: So make peace and reconciliation between your two (contending) brothers; and fear Allah, that ye may receive Mercy.

(34) Or do they intend a plot (against thee)? But those who defy Allah are themselves involved in a Plot!

(35) In shade long-extended,

(36) Whether ye cut down (O ye Muslim!) The tender palm-trees, or ye left them standing on their roots, it was by leave of Allah, and in order that He might cover with shame the rebellious transgresses.

(37) 'And we understand not whether ill is intended to those on earth, or whether their Lord (really) intends to guide them to right conduct.

(38) And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind.

(39) And the earth, moreover, hath He extended (to a wide expanse);

(40) To him dost thou attend;
